# Turn 7 Grok Bots into a trading desk: how a weekend project got 360 stars by racing the next day

**What it is** An open-source instruction pack that you install into Grok Bot, or into agents like Claude Code or Cursor. It splits crypto trading research, risk control, and order execution across 7 roles, and every trade needs your approval against a ticket ID.

**Why it took off** It shipped the day after Grok Bot launched templates, riding the wave of the template marketplace, creator payouts, and the "let Grok Bot trade crypto for me" short videos. Among a pile of content promising returns, it's the "responsible version": no auto-trading, no withdrawal rights for the wallet, and you can try it with one command and no keys.

**C** **How you could follow it** Don't build another Hyperliquid trading desk. Copy the playbook instead: when the next agent platform opens templates or plugins, within a day or two ship a multi-agent team template for the hottest topic and open-source it, or make a version for an uncovered market (US stocks, Polymarket, A-shares) or for Chinese-speaking users.

C grade: its stars came mainly from the Grok Bot template launch, a window that has already passed. "AI trading" is already occupied by projects with over ten thousand stars on GitHub, so copying it would most likely get only dozens of stars. The valuable part is the playbook of racing platform events. What people in the small circles are saying

Data (updated daily) · Repo created 2026-08-16 · 398 stars · 7 days +158

GitHub · stars

Data 2026-10-14 → 2026-11-08 (26 days, 26 observations). Points before 10-28 come from deeply / archive backfill, not every day has one

On Aug 2026 28, Grok Bot launched its "Templates" feature. The next day, an engineer at a crypto payments company open-sourced a weekend project: a Hyperliquid trading desk with 7 bots split across roles, installable by pasting one sentence into Grok Bot. Two-plus months later it has 361 stars and 86 forks, and on Nov 6 it gained 34 stars in a single day, its fastest day to date. Not huge, but the playbook for stars is clear: ride a platform event, pick the highest-traffic theme, and sell "safety." It's copyable, but this window has already been used.

### A tweet about "a weekend project"

The author, Andrew Wilkinson (@andrewwilkinson on X, about 2,900 followers), says he is a forward deployed engineer at Peer, attached to a small group called Galleon Labs. On Aug 29 he posted: "Turn your @bot into a 7-agent @HyperliquidX trading desk. Had some fun this weekend and thought I'd open source it. Paste the repo into Grok Bot, 15 min later you have research, risk, execution and review as separate agents." With an image, 4,748 views. He shipped v1.1.0 the same day.

The timing is its biggest asset. The day before, Grok Bot had just launched templates (launch post 1.25M views). Sep 4 the template marketplace opened, Musk retweeted a template recommendation (21.7M views), and Sep 25 creator payouts arrived: pay is based on template usage, on the condition that you post a template link on X at least twice per settlement cycle. HyperGrok was one of the earliest "multi-bot team" templates, and it covered the topic with the most traffic in Grok Bot content: trading.

### What it actually is

It isn't trading software; it's an "instruction pack": 7 role descriptions, 17 SKILL.md skills, plus a few market-data scripts that use only the Python standard library. Install it into Grok Bot (it also works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok Build), and it splits the agent by role:

| Character | What it does |
|---|---|
| Desk Lead | Master dispatcher, opens a ticket for each trade |
| Market Analyst / Research Analyst | Pulls prices, funding rates, and depth, checks news and on-chain messages, and every number comes with a source and UTC timestamp |
| Strategist | Turns your idea into rules, backtests them, then paper-trades on testnet |
| Risk Manager | Sizes positions by your stated limits and live account, with veto power |
| Execution Trader | The only bot holding the keys; it sends only the order you approved, once. |
| Trade Reviewer | Trading journal logs, with "process" and "outcome" graded separately |

Research-only by default. To place real orders you need your own Hyperliquid API wallet (trade-only, no withdrawals), then approve each trade in chat with a ticket ID like `approve HG-20260816-01`. The example ticket in the README reads: risk $51, 0.5% of equity, position sized against a stop + slippage + fees stress case.

### Why it got remembered

**Lowest possible barrier: one command.** The README's second section is titled "Try it now, no keys": clone it and run `python3 scripts/opening_bell.py --coin ETH`. No wallet, no account, no key. It prints a live ETH snapshot, with a screen-recorded GIF attached. Grok Bot users have it even easier: click "Add to Grok Bot" and send "Start the desk."

**Lots of forks, mostly for use.** The fork-to-star ratio is about 24%, far above typical projects. The author Oct 25 counted 43 forks himself: most are identical to upstream, and only 7 have their own commits (a version ported to Interactive Brokers, a multi-asset simulator, an always-on node build). People fork it to get their own copy to feed an agent. Several recent forker accounts have Chinese usernames, so Chinese crypto circles are probably talking about it too (inference).

**In a sea of "up 12x overnight" posts, this is the one that holds up.** On TikTok, single "I gave my Grok Bot $X" videos pull 60k to 140k views. On Instagram, one post says "Grok turned $280 into $3,412 overnight, six bots running a trading desk, comment DESK for the prompt," with 6,400 likes and 16.7k comments. Most of these never name HyperGrok. But a serious creator pitching a "multi-bot trading desk" picks one that doesn't shout about returns. AI tools creator Dan Kornas covered it in Oct 5, opening with "A trading bot needs a process before it needs a wallet." An AI-labeled Instagram account, aitechdaily.hub, posted a reel titled "I gave Grok Bot $50, 7 AI agents, and ONE rule… Meet HyperGrok." On Facebook, another post says "someone built a free trading desk out of 7 Grok bots."

**The author keeps maintaining it.** Over two-plus months it has shipped 20+ releases (v1.1.0 through v1.7.1), the public templates are auto-verified weekly, and it's on npm (1,181 downloads in the last 30 days, per npm data, 10-07 to 11-05). It's also been submitted one by one to cursor.directory, skill directories, botshelf.dev, and the HypurrCollective Hyperliquid ecosystem map. In Oct 25 v1.7.0 shipped with new templates and a demo GIF, and stars then grew by 56 over the next three days (GitHub daily star count, 10-25 to 10-27). November 5 and 6 ran faster, with +19 and +34 on single days. The source wasn't traced; likely the long tail of short video and template marketplaces.

### The coin

On Aug 31, crypto account Spaceman (@Orbitalx0) launched a $HYPERGROK on pump.fun, saying "all fees go to the author's GitHub." Before the launch, someone asked the author on X whether he'd accept pump.fun GitHub donations. That gave it its first wave of exposure. The author later wrote in the FAQ: "HyperGrok has no token and will not launch one." The coin now trades at $0.0000027884, a market cap of a few thousand dollars, and nobody's trading it anymore.

### Who's competing

| Project | star | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| NoFxAiOS/nofx | 13.2K | Full AI auto-trading terminal: runs models itself, places orders automatically |
| alsk1992/CloddsBot | 3.1K | Autonomous trading agent across 1000 markets |
| wquguru/nof0, Hyper-Alpha-Arena | 2.8K / 1.2K | Clone of an "AI auto-trading arena" where agents compete on profit |
| Superior-Trade terminal + skills | 1.1K / 230 | Self-hosted, built around Freqtrade backtesting |
| Single-agent Hyperliquid trading bot | 400–550 | One Claude agent does analysis and order placement, no risk veto |
| Hummingbot, OctoBot, passivbot | 2–7K | Traditional quant frameworks, require coding |

The "AI trading" theme is already crowded on GitHub, with top projects at 10,000+ stars as fully automated terminals. HyperGrok has 361 stars and doesn't rank near the top. It occupies a narrower spot: a Grok Bot template, no automatic order placement, and it never touches your money.

### If it were you

**Verdict** : worth learning its playbook, not worth building another Hyperliquid trading desk. Its stars mostly came from the window when the Grok Bot templates launched, and the niche is already held by a 10,000-star project. Copying it now will most likely get you a few dozen stars.

**Who it's for** : developers who track agent platform updates and can ship within a day or two; people who know a specific market's rules and risk controls (US stocks, A-shares, Polymarket, FX).

**Who it's not for** : anyone hoping to make money from projects like this (it doesn't make money itself, and the surrounding coins went to zero); anyone who can't keep up weekly maintenance or answer "will this lose me money?"

**How to do it:**

- When the next platform opens a "shareable templates / plugins / skills marketplace," within 24 hours build the hottest theme of the moment as a "multi-agent team," open-source it on GitHub, and state clearly which agent tools it installs into.

- To catch this theme, do what it doesn't cover: switch markets (Interactive Brokers, Polymarket, A-shares; someone has already forked an IB version), or build a Chinese version or a native version for Claude Code.

- Copy three things: a one-line install, a "Try it now" that works without a key plus a GIF, and a pitch that spells out "who holds the keys, how you approve, and the wallet can't withdraw." Include a screenshot of a sample ticket.

**How to get users** : start with the author's own X posts; submit it to each directory, plugin registry, and ecosystem map one by one; find mid-size creators who cover "reliable AI tools." HyperGrok's first serious write-up came exactly this way. Short-video accounts will grab the material on their own.

**When it's too late** : the Grok Bot template wave is more than two months old, so the window for this one has closed. The real window is the first day or two after the next platform event.

**What would mean we misread it** : if HyperGrok keeps adding 20 to 30 stars a day for the next few weeks and passes 1,000, or if trading templates rank near the top of the Grok Bot public template usage chart, the theme still has room on Grok Bot, and following it on a different market would be worth more than described above.

## HyperGrok Trading Desk (galleonlabs/hypergrok-trading-desk) research report

Research date 2026-11-06 · source github

### One line

An MIT-licensed instruction pack: 7 roles (Desk Lead, market analysis, research analysis, strategy, risk, execution, review) and 17 SKILL.md skills, plus a few market-data scripts that use only the Python standard library and need no keys. It sets up a Hyperliquid trading desk on Grok Bot (also Claude Code / Cursor / Codex / Gemini CLI / Grok Build). It's research-only by default. Real orders need your own trade-only API wallet (no withdrawals) and per-trade approval by ticket ID.

### Verdict

It took off mainly because of **timing and platform events** : it went public the day after Grok Bot launched templates (2026-08-29), right as the Grok Bot template marketplace (09-04) and creator revenue share (09-25) wave hit, and as videos like "I gave Grok Bot $X to trade" were spreading widely on TikTok and Instagram. It packaged what that wave wanted most, "7 bots forming one trading desk," into a one-click public template, and also put it on GitHub so other agent tools could use it. Its **differentiation** is process and risk first: tickets, per-trade approval, a wallet that can't withdraw, position sizing against a stress stop, and an evidence trail. That made it the credible one among content shouting "12x overnight." Its star count is still modest (337), external traffic has come mainly from mid-size creators, and no major account has covered it yet.

### Data (source: our github repo_day + GitHub API)

- Database built 2026-08-16; author Andrew Wilkinson (X @andrewwilkinson, about 2,878 followers, says he is a forward deployed engineer at @peerxyz); organization Galleon Labs (also makes USDCtoFiat, Peerlytics).

- star: 10-17 at 110 → 10-24 151 → 10-27 207 → 11-01 240 → 11-06 337; +113 in the last 7 days, +84,11-06 in the first 7 days, and a single-day peak of +34 (highest in the observed window). The GitHub API live check today showed 355 stars and 85 forks.

- fork/star is about 24%, clearly on the high side. The author ran their own fork census (docs/FORK_REVIEW.md) of 10-25: most of the 43 forks are identical to upstream or just behind it, with no commits of their own. Only 7 have original commits (like the Interactive Brokers port, the multi-asset simulator, and the always-on node). So many people fork just to run it themselves or feed it to an agent, not to contribute code. Among the recent fork accounts there are several Chinese usernames (qingqingdilai, piaoshuweb3, Fxx168, sunhonghua1, taichenjie), which suggests the project is spreading in Chinese crypto circles (inference).

- The npm package hypergrok-trading-desk was downloaded 1,181 times in the last 30 days (npm API, 10-07 to 11-05). It only started using npm trusted publishing on 11-04.

- Releases are very frequent: v1.1.0 (08-29) to v1.7.1 (11-01), more than 20 releases in just over two months.

- The stargazers endpoint returned 404, so there is no per-star timestamp data and star-farming cannot be verified from here. But the fork accounts look like normal real users, and the fork ratio is high, so it does not look artificially inflated.

| 11-05~06 | Single-day star gains of +19 and +34, the highest in the observed window (the specific source wasn't pinned down; likely the short videos above and the template marketplace) | repo_day |

It was also picked up by a batch of directory sites: botdirectory.ai, learngrok.dev, botshelf.dev (Investing & crypto category), cursor.directory/plugins, skillsdirectory (Grade A), HypurrCollective's Hyperliquid ecosystem map (with a badge in the README), the hol.org plugin registry, plugandship.dev, githubsignals, and others. These are aggregator sites that sprang up as Grok Bot and agent skills gained heat, and they bring long-tail search traffic.

**TikTok backdrop** (TikHub search for "grok bot trading desk"): the whole category is hot. @juliofutures, "my Grok Bot watches GBPJPY every 5 minutes," 140K views; @muhamaddanielabror, in Indonesian, on Grok Bot on pump.fun, 140K views; @runitbankexe, "gave my Grok Bot $2,000," 66K views; @jesperzzp0, "I GAVE MY GROK BOT $43 AND ONE RULE"; @ainewscentral, "Grok Bot just changed Trading Forever," 62K views. Most of these videos don't name HyperGrok, but the aitechdaily reel's title uses the "I gave Grok Bot $X and ONE rule" format, which suggests HyperGrok was carried along by this content wave.

**Where the money comes from** : the project itself charges nothing. There are three possible returns: (1) the Grok Bot creator revenue share, which pays based on template usage; the author repeatedly posts template links on X, which would meet the "≥2 posts per cycle" condition (inference; I have not verified whether he has actually received payouts); (2) a third-party $HYPERGROK memecoin claiming to send fees to the author's GitHub (similar to the Bags model that shares fees with GitHub users), but its current price on OKX is $0.0000027884 with a market cap of only a few thousand dollars, so it is essentially dead; the author states clearly in the FAQ that "HyperGrok has no token and will not launch one"; (3) referral traffic to Galleon Labs' other two projects, Boomkin and crypto-defi-skills (cross-links are in the README), plus the author's personal brand.

### Why it's working

1. **Caught the platform event** : Grok Bot 08-28 launched a template, and author 08-29 posted "7-agent trading desk". Then the template marketplace, an Elon repost, and creator revenue sharing all piled on. It's one of the earliest "multi-bot team" templates, and trading happens to be the biggest-traffic topic in Grok Bot content.

2. **The topic is inherently shareable** : "7 AI agents forming a trading desk" is easy to explain and easy to screenshot. Short-video accounts (aitechdaily, Facebook video) used it directly as material, and crypto accounts even launched a coin around it, which drove the first wave of exposure.

3. **Almost zero install friction** : first, "paste one sentence into Grok Bot" or a one-click "Add to Grok Bot." For people without Grok Bot, `python3 scripts/opening_bell.py` shows live market data with no wallet, no keys, and only the standard library. The fork ratio is 24%, and many forks are identical to upstream, consistent with a "use it as-is" pattern.

4. **Feeling of safety is the selling point** : the wallet cannot withdraw, every trade is approved by ticket number, and position sizing uses pressure-based stop losses. In the scary scenario of "AI trading crypto for me," that is a convincing reason, and Dan Kornas's post is titled with exactly that line.

5. **The author keeps up intense maintenance** : more than 20 versions in just over two months, weekly automated validation of public templates, the fork census, FAQ clarifications about the coin, plus listings on npm, agent plugin marketplaces, and the Hyperliquid ecosystem map. It's a steady long tail, not a one-off traffic spike.

### Differentiation

It doesn't sell strategies or promise returns. It sells "trading desk process + risk control": role separation, risk can veto, only the execution role holds the key, the approval gate sits outside the chat (Grok Bot's Auto-review "Ask first" rule), data comes with sources and timestamps, backtest datasets carry hashes, and missing data is stated as missing. It's also an instruction pack rather than software: it works across Grok Bot, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Gemini CLI, with no server and no risk of custodying funds.

This **differentiation** explains why it could break out: in a sea of content promising "12x returns," it's the best candidate for a "trustworthy" write-up, and more likely to get listed in directories and the Hyperliquid ecosystem. But the main driver is still the platform window of the Grok Bot template plus the trading theme's heat. Similar competitors (nofx, 13k stars) are far bigger; HyperGrok is still small by comparison.

### Visibility

It's being talked about in small circles. The author himself has only about 2.9K followers, and his tweets get a few thousand views. I found no coverage from outlets like TechCrunch or big X accounts (a search of the local x-radar corpus for "hypergrok" returned nothing); Dan Kornas and several short-video accounts mentioned it. It earns no revenue and has disclosed no income. Around it there is a third-party memecoin, which has already gone to zero.

### Copycats

- Forks with modifications: thysmans/hypergrok-iterated, igor-olikh (ported to Interactive Brokers), Ahmnonymous (multi-asset simulator), jawndiego (always-on node), plus re-listings on directory sites such as swcstudiospace/hypergrok.

- Riding the same narrative: Instagram @sebastianhardy_'s "six-bot trading desk" prompt post (comment DESK for the prompt), and a batch of TikTok "I gave my Grok Bot $X" trading videos.

- Third-party memecoin $HYPERGROK (pump.fun, contract 9Emt…pump).

### Takeaways

- The day the new platform opened "shareable templates / plugins," within 24 hours they turned the hottest themes (trading, making money) into "multi-agent team" templates and open-sourced them on GitHub, covering every agent tool.

- Ship a "Try it now" with a single command that needs no keys, plus a demo GIF.

- In high-risk niches, make "safety design" the selling point (who holds the keys, how approvals work, the wallet can't withdraw). It gets picked up by serious bloggers and ecosystem directories more easily than shouting about returns.

- Proactively get into directory sites and plugin registries (cursor.directory, skills directories, ecosystem maps), plus the platform's creator revenue share (regularly posting template links on X).

### Still unclear

- Star timeline details aren't available (the stargazers API 404), so the specific source of the 11-05–11-06 acceleration wasn't pinned down.

- Install and usage counts for the public template aren't disclosed by Grok Bot; how much creator revenue the author received is unverified.

- Whether the $HYPERGROK fee wave actually reached the author, and how much, is unverified.

- Of the high-view "Grok Bot trading desk" videos on TikTok/Instagram, how many actually used HyperGrok is unknown; most didn't name it.
