# A ComfyUI workflow untouched for two months went from 84 to 378 stars in three days

**What it is** A ComfyUI workflow file for the MiniMax H3 video model, plus Chinese docs. It combines first/last-frame, image-to-video and text-to-video in one, defaults to a speed-up LoRA and compressed weights, and is pitched at cards with 8 to 12GB of VRAM.

**Why it took off** The author is an AI video creator working with MiniMax, with 11k followers on X. On 11-03 he posted that most of his H3 clips were made with it, and shared render times on low-end cards (75.9k views). The next day a Chinese resource account reposted it, catching newcomers who came in after the H3 wave and only had small-VRAM cards.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't build another H3 workflow. Leave this playbook for the next open model: one to three months after release, publish a "most stable, runs on low-end cards" integrated workflow, with real render times and output from low-end hardware, backed by your own work. Or package it as a one-click kit that doesn't require knowing ComfyUI, or translate it into another language.

Grade C: this H3 workflow slot is already packed, and many alternatives are more capable. It rose on the author's name and tweets, which followers can't copy. What's worth learning is the timing and framing: one to three months after open release, test on low-end hardware, reframe and push again. Chatter in small circles

pixelaigc/ComfyUI-MiniMax-H3-Workflow isn't a program. It's a workflow file you drag onto the ComfyUI canvas, plus a Chinese readme, for running the open video model MiniMax H3. It hasn't been updated since Sep 10, yet it went from 84 to 378 stars between Nov 4 and 6. The files didn't change; the author posted one tweet. Below: what it is, why these three days, where the stars came from, who it's competing with, and what you can learn from it if you want a project that earns stars the same way.

### One tweet: "8GB and 12GB cards are both fine"

On the morning of Nov 3, 2026 (UTC 08:42), AI video creator @PixelAigc posted on X:

> Recommending the most stable H3 workflow again. Most of my Minimax H3 videos were made with this workflow. It's very friendly to low-spec PCs; I've personally tested it on a 8GB 4080 and a 12GB 3060, both fine.

He later corrected himself in the replies: the 8GB one was actually a 4060Ti. The same day he posted a real test: 3060 12GB, 480P, 5 seconds, 6 steps. A wuxia clip with two fighters in a panoramic shot took 302 seconds, and a close-up shot-reverse-shot dialogue took 288 seconds. The next day he added "4060Ti, 8GB, one-click generation of 60-second video", by batch-rendering 6 segments in local ComfyUI and stitching them.

By Nov 6 the tweet had 75.9k views, 1.2K likes and 1.9K bookmarks (X, 11-06). Bookmarks outnumbered likes by half, so most viewers saved it to try on their own cards later.

The author isn't a random user. His bio reads "AI Filmmaker | Creative Partner of MiniMax, Vidu, Luma & PixVerse". He has 11k followers on X and 8,600 posts, and usually shares long films he made with AI. "Most of my H3 videos were made with this" effectively vouches for the workflow with his own work.

### What it actually is

The repo has three things: a 9KB Chinese README, a 25KB workflow JSON, and a diagram of a "control panel". No code, no license, and no topics on GitHub (11-06).

What it does is simple: it packs first/last-frame-to-video, image-to-video and text-to-video into one subgraph, wrapped in a control panel where resolution, frame count and steps are set in one place. It defaults to community author larryvrh's 4-step Turbo LoRA and ComfyUI's official int8 pruned weights, so cards with small VRAM can run it. Every part is someone else's off-the-shelf work; what it contributes is assembly and tuning.

The README is detailed: a parameter table, a resolution conversion table, a frame-count formula (multiples of 17 plus 5 for alignment), and how to switch between the three modes by bypassing the first- and last-frame nodes. One line is unusually candid: "VRAM usage not tested, no promises made." Few Chinese workflow repos explain themselves this clearly.

### Where the stars came from

| Date | Cumulative stars | fork | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|
| 09-09 | 0 | – | Repo created; final commit the next day |
| 10-09 | 77 | 15 | First wave from the September launch (that tweet wasn't found; unverified) |
| 10-28 ~ 11-02 | 84 | 16–18 | Stalled |
| 11-03 | 86 | 19 | Morning: the author posted "recommending again" |
| 11-04 | 190 | 34 | +104; a Chinese resource account reposted it that noon |
| 11-05 | 315 | 51 | +125, daily high |
| 11-06 | 378 | 60 | +63, starting to fall off |

(GitHub star counts, daily snapshots, as of 11-06; the GitHub page showed 11-06 live at 390 stars and 62 forks.)

**The first wave was the author himself.** The day after the 11-03 tweet, stars jumped from 86 to 190.

**The second wave was a resource-reposting account.** On Nov 4 UTC 11:54, an account called "Weekly Resources" (bio: shares AI materials and side-hustle resources, with a "backup account" link) posted: "Found a gem! Someone open-sourced the MiniMax H3 video generation workflow!... If you play with ComfyUI or AI video, bookmark this!" It got 16.2k views, 308 likes and 301 bookmarks, with bookmarks and likes nearly equal, typical of bookmark-driven traffic. That day stars rose by 125. Whether this repost was organic or arranged can't be determined.

**Third, search, only partly confirmed.** Searching Chinese for "MiniMax H3 first/last frame ComfyUI workflow" ranks it first. The repo name and description match the terms newcomers search for, so some of the 77 stars before October may have come this way (inference).

**What didn't show up:** no Reddit, Hacker News, Bilibili videos dedicated to it, or media coverage were found. Two tweets total about 92k views, which is the entire reach of this spike.

Forks make up about 16% of stars, higher than the typical level for new repos of the same period (about 11%). People fork workflows to use them, and many click fork as a download button, so a high ratio isn't surprising. Per-star timestamps weren't pulled this time, but the pace of star growth lines up with the two tweets, and forks rose in step. Nothing suggests star-buying.

### Why now

MiniMax open-sourced the H3 weights in Jul 2026 30 (official repo: 11,488 stars). ComfyUI added native support the same day, with built-in official templates for text-to-video, image-to-video, reference-to-video and first/last frame. Between Aug 20 and Sep 1 the two teams also ran an H3 community challenge with RTX 5090 and 5060Ti prizes. That August alone, dozens of H3 workflows and node packs appeared.

By November the hype had been going for over three months, and Turbo LoRA and int8 weights were mature. Newcomers arriving then mostly had 8 to 12GB cards. They didn't want to sort through a pile of experimental nodes; they wanted something "most stable, works out of the box." The author's "recommending again", with render times on low-end cards, hit that audience directly.

So this star spike had little to do with the product: the code hadn't changed in two months, only the story did. Last time the pitch was "all-in-one workflow"; this time it was "your 3060 can run it too."

### Who it's competing with

The field is crowded. Among repos with MiniMax H3 in their name or description, it ranks about #29 by stars.

| Project | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| ComfyUI official H3 template | 07-30 | Built into the template library | Split into several standalone templates, full precision by default. This one is all-in-one plus Turbo LoRA plus low-VRAM defaults. |
| FlashML-org/FreeVideo | 09-13 | 2,778 stars (+340 over 7 days) | Standalone software; runs H3 on 8GB VRAM with no need to learn ComfyUI |
| AIMixer/ComfyUI_MiniMaxH3_Director | 08-04 | 2,699 stars | Multi-segment director console for long films; this one handles single segments only |
| huangserva/ComfyUI_MiniMaxH3_Director | 08-04 | 1,411 stars | Also Chinese, 5 workflows, more modes including video editing |
| nkxx188/ComfyUI-MiniMaxH3-Easy | 08-05 | 884 stars | Nearly the same pitch ("one workflow does it all") plus reference-to-video; English |
| Larryvrh/ComfyUI-MiniMax-H3-Turbo | 08-06 | 625 stars | The upstream nodes and LoRAs it depends on |
| LeonQ8/ComfyUI-ALLinONE-MinimaxH3 | 08-15 | 365 stars | Packaged as a single all-in-one node with more features |
| zxcHolmes/minimax-h3-studio | Not verified | 171 stars (11-02 to 11-06 +85) | Desktop-app form, compared against it on Chinese X the same week |
| Bilibili / YouTube tutorials | 8–October | A single video gets tens of thousands to 200k plays | Video tutorials that bundle the workflow, the main channel for Chinese users to get workflows |

(GitHub stars, 11-06.)

None of its features are unique; stronger alternatives are everywhere. What really sets it apart is two things: honest Chinese docs, and an author with a name who posts real low-end hardware tests. The second is what drove this spike. In Nov 4 the author also created a new repo, h3-studio ("MiniMax H3 Studio in Windows PC", 1 stars so far), apparently to ride the wave toward a one-click Windows package. How that goes is still unknown.

### If it were you

**Bottom line:** Another H3 workflow isn't worth building; the slot is already full, and this one only rose because of its author's name. What's worth learning is its timing and framing, to reuse for the next open video or image model.

**Who it's for:** creators already making output in ComfyUI who have finished work to show off, and people who already have thousands of followers on X, Bilibili or Xiaohongshu, where one post can reach tens of thousands.

**Who it's not for:** people who only assemble nodes and have no portfolio; anyone hoping to ride the hype with "yet another H3 workflow"; anyone without their own distribution who expects a repo to be found through search.

**How to do it:**

1. Wait for the next hot open model instead of rushing in the first month. The first month belongs to official templates and dozens of experimental repos. One to three months later, the parts (speed-up LoRAs, quantized weights) mature, and a wave of newcomers arrives wanting "the most stable one."

2. Make "runs on low-end hardware" the main selling point. State the card, resolution, seconds rendered and time taken, and attach the output. "3060GB 12, 302 seconds to render a 5-second clip" beats a feature list.

3. Write the docs honestly: parameter tables, resolution tables, frame formulas, and say plainly what you haven't tested: "not tested, no promises."

4. Or do the part it skipped: package the same workflow as a one-click bundle that needs no ComfyUI knowledge (FreeVideo 2,778 stars shows people want that), or port it to English, Japanese, and Korean, with tests on low-end cards for each language.

**How to get stars:** open with "this is the setup I use for my daily output," paired with a finished clip rendered on a low-end card. Re-post from a new angle a month or two later (low-spec, long-form, batch) without changing the code, then get a resource-aggregator account to repost it. Those readers save things and star them as they go.

**When it was too late:** the window for H3 had mostly closed by then, with growth falling from +125 to +63. This playbook works in the first to third month after a new model goes open source.

**Signs you misjudged it:** if your real-world test post gets under 10K views in a week and stars stay in the double digits, your account isn't yet strong enough for this approach. Build up your portfolio and followers first. Or, if the model you're targeting already ships low-VRAM defaults in its official templates, then "runs on low-end cards" is no longer a selling point.

### One line

This is a ComfyUI workflow JSON plus a Chinese README for the open-source video model MiniMax H3: first-last-frame, image-to-video and text-to-video packed into one subgraph, with a "control panel" wrapper, Turbo LoRA on by default, aimed at low-VRAM machines. The repo hasn't been updated since Sep 10. From November 4–6 it went from 84 to 378 stars (live on GitHub: 390 stars / 62 forks). The product didn't change. What happened: the author himself (11k followers on X, a MiniMax creator partner) "re-recommended" it on X on Nov 3, with test videos on 8GB/12GB low-end cards (75.9k views, 1.9K bookmarks). On Nov 4 a Chinese resource-repost account shared it again (16.2k views). Each of the two posts lines up with a single day of star-growth peak.

### 1. What the product is

- The repo has only 3 things: README.md (9KB), `video_minimax_h3_t2v_0909.json` (25KB workflow), and a control-panel diagram in assets. No code, no license, no topics. Source: GitHub contents API, 2026-11-06.

- What you need to install: the Larryvrh/ComfyUI-MiniMax-H3-Turbo node (625 stars), Comfy-Org's official int8 pruned weights, and larryvrh's 4-step Turbo LoRA. Put simply, it assembles existing community parts and tunes the parameters.

- The README is very detailed: a parameter table, a resolution conversion table, a frame-count formula (17k+5 alignment), and "how to bypass the first/last frame inputs to switch between the three modes." It also says upfront "I haven't tested VRAM usage, no guarantees," which is rare in Chinese workflow repos.

### 2. Growth data and timeline

Replies below added more: a 3060 12G test (480P, 5 seconds, 6 steps, clip done in 302 seconds), plus "4060Ti 8G one-click generates a 60-second video" (using workbody to send commands to a local ComfyUI, batch-generating 6 segments and merging them).

- Repost tweet [x.com/grgerwcwetwet/status/2117948625519297011](https://x.com/grgerwcwetwet/status/2117948625519297011): "Found a killer! Someone open-sourced the MiniMax H3 video generation workflow!" 16.2K views, 308 likes, 301 bookmarks. This account reposts AI resources and side-hustle material, and also runs a "backup alt" account.

- The fork/star ratio is about 16%, above the median for similar-aged new repos (about 11%). A workflow is something people actually use, and forks serve as a download button, so a higher ratio is normal here.

### 3. Competitors: the same thing is crowded with players

MiniMax 在 2026-07-30 开源 H3 权重(MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3,11,488 星)。ComfyUI 第一天就原生支持,自带 t2v/i2v/r2v/FLF 官方模板。MiniMax 和 ComfyUI 8 月 20 日–9 月 1 日还联合办了 H3 社区挑战赛,奖品是 RTX 5090 / 5060Ti(来源:x-radar 收录的 @ComfyUI、@MiniMax_AI 推文)。那个月一下子冒出了几十个 H3 工作流和节点库。我们库里名字或简介带 MiniMax H3 的库,按星数排它只在第 29 名左右:

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ComfyUI official H3 templates (t2v/i2v/r2v/FLF) | Big-company features | From ¥2026-07-30 | Built into the template library | Officially split into several separate templates, full precision by default. It's three-in-one plus a Turbo LoRA plus low-VRAM defaults. |
| AIMixer/ComfyUI_MiniMaxH3_Director | Open source | 2026-08-04 | 2,699 stars | Multi-segment director's console for long-form sequencing. It only handles single-segment generation. |

| zxcHolmes/minimax-h3-studio | Open source | – | 171 stars (11-02 to 11-06 +85) | Desktop studio, compared against it on Chinese X the same week |
| javawock7618/comfy-MiniMax-H3-workflows | HuggingFace | – | – | Also uses INT8 weights for a low-VRAM workflow collection |
| Bilibili / YouTube tutorials (56 episodes, "Turbo LoRA 2-minute video" etc.) | Other | 8–October | A single video gets tens of thousands to 200k plays | Video tutorials bundle the workflow for free. This is the main way Chinese users get the workflow. |

Bottom line: there are many similar products, and plenty with stronger features. It has nothing unique in functionality.

### 4. Where users came from (growth tactics)

1. **The author's own influence on X (confirmed)** : @PixelAigc has 11.2K followers and 8,644 posts, bio reads "AI Filmmaker|Creative Partner of MiniMax, Vidu, Luma & PixVerse", and he regularly posts AI long-form films (《故乡》 at 1300 seconds, etc.). He says "most of my H3 videos are made with this," which is basically using his own work to vouch for the workflow. 11-03 That tweet drove 11-04 of +104.

2. **Chinese resource-aggregator account reshare (confirmed)** : the weekly resource roundup 11-04 reshared, matching +125 on 11-05. Reshares like this push the repo into the "save-for-later" crowd, so saves (301) and likes (308) land about even, meaning most people bookmarked it to come back to.

3. **Long-tail search (partly confirmed)** : searching Jina for "MiniMax H3 first-last frame ComfyUI workflow" ranks it first. Chinese titles that match search terms directly are one likely source of the 77 stars before October (unverified).

4. No Reddit, HN, or Bilibili videos specifically about it turned up, and no media coverage.

### 5. Why it took off

- **The author brings his own audience** : he's an AI video creator with an official MiniMax partnership and 11K Chinese followers on X. The repo is a byproduct of his personal production workflow, and each post reached 76K people.

- **Hits the biggest pain point: can my low-end GPU run it?** The post and the replies below it show off 3060 12G, 4060Ti 8G test runs with times and finished clips. H3 in its original form needs big VRAM, and most Chinese users have 8–12G cards, so "tested, it runs" persuades more than a feature list.

- **Timing** : H3 had been open source for over three months. The August workflow rush had passed, and the Turbo LoRA and int8 weights had matured. Newcomers arriving now want the one "most stable, ready to use" version, not a pile of experimental nodes. The author's "re-recommendation" caught exactly that later wave.

- **Low barrier** : drop one JSON into the canvas and it runs. The README is fully in Chinese with a detailed parameter table. Bookmarkers often star or fork it along the way (fork rate 16%).

### 6. Differentiation

Functionally the differences are small: three-in-one workflow, Turbo LoRA, low-VRAM defaults. Several others, like nkxx188 and Easy, had these long before. There are two real differentiators: **fully Chinese, candidly written docs** (parameter tables, resolution tables, frame-count formula, no VRAM promises), and **a well-known creator's endorsement, with low-end card test results** . Growth came from the second one: the person and his posts, not the product itself.

### 7. How many people can see it

In niche circles the word is that there are 2 posts on Chinese X in the AI video / ComfyUI scene, about 92K views combined. No English community, media, or big-account coverage. The space itself is crowded (dozens of H3-related repos, several with over a thousand stars). Growth is already falling (+125 → +63). I haven't found anyone copying it directly, but the "three-in-one + low-VRAM H3 workflow" format had many takers before it.

### 8. What to borrow

- About 1–3 months after a new model goes open source, publish a "most stable / low-spec friendly" integrated workflow, with real low-end card timings and finished clips. It targets the wave of newcomers who arrive later.

- Creators vouching with "this is the setup I use for my daily output," plus a low-spec test video as the hook, works far better than a plain feature list.

- The same repo can be "re-recommended" after a gap. The second viral push shows that, with no code change, just a new angle (low-end GPUs) can drive another wave.

- Step two: get resource-repost accounts to share it, which can double the stars again in a day.

### 9. Still unclear

- Couldn't find the tweet that brought 77 stars at the September launch (unverified).

- Unknown whether the 周览资源 repost was organic or arranged.

- The stargazer timeline wasn't pulled this time because the GitHub API rate-limited us, so I couldn't check for star-buying. That said, the star curve lines up with the two tweets, forks rose in sync, and nothing points to inflated stars.

- Author 11-04 just created pixelaigc/h3-studio ("MiniMax H3 Studio in Windows PC", 1 stars). They may be riding this wave with a one-click Windows package. What comes next is unknown.
