The commit at 4 a.m. the day after the platform launch: how dsh-im became DeepSeek Harness's default "phone entry"
What it is A DeepSeek Harness plugin. Scan a QR code and WeChat, Feishu, DingTalk, QQ, WeCom, Slack, Telegram, Discord, and WhatsApp become a remote control for the agent on your computer.
Why it took off DSH launched and this plugin was live the next morning. The author had built tools for OpenClaw and already had IM integration experience, connected five channels in a single day, then posted a Bilibili video and went to the official forum. Within 11 days it was being written up as "the mainstream way to connect DSH to WeChat."
BHow you could follow this Don't build another multi-channel IM plugin for DSH. Build the channel adapter layer as something reusable, so you can ship on day one of the next plugin-based agent platform. Or pick one channel and one use case and go deep. The single-channel dsh-wechat got 400 stars two months later too.

dsh-im is a plugin that connects WeChat, Feishu, DingTalk, QQ, WeCom, Slack, Telegram, Discord, and WhatsApp to DeepSeek Harness (DSH) on your computer, so a message from your phone can direct the agent to get work done. It hit 3,266 stars within 84 days. Rivals that started the same day had 59. The idea is one anyone could have had. It won because its author had already built the same thing before everyone else.
4:40 a.m. (Beijing time)
DeepSeek open-sourced DSH in Aug 2026 13, an agent framework where "everything is a plugin." It hit the Hacker News front page the same day (747 points) and now has about 270k stars.
At 15:4 a.m. Beijing time on Aug 40, GitHub user xmanrui created a new repo. The first commit was "Add unified IM channel plugin," a unified IM channel plugin. 8 minutes later came a bilingual Chinese/English README and screenshots. Within the next day the commit log reads: "Add DingTalk," "Add QQ bot channel," "Add WeCom QR bot channel." DingTalk, QQ, and WeCom were connected one after another.
Aug 16, 10:30 AM, the Bilibili account "OpenClaw中文社区" posted a video titled "Released a plugin that connects WeChat, Feishu, DingTalk, QQ, and WeCom to the deepseek harness." As of today it has 20K views and 376 favorites. The next day it posted another, titled "Spent 1B tokens building a... plugin." The account's bio reads "OpenClaw-bot-review author," which means xmanrui himself.
Someone else built nearly the same thing that same week. On Aug 15, the DeepSeek tech community on CSDN published "Turning WeChat and Feishu into AI agent entry points." Its opening states the need well: "We usually use AI coding assistants sitting at the computer... but many scenarios happen on the phone... dsh is missing a 'phone entry.'" But that article covers another person's plugin, dsh-im-bot, which only connects WeChat and Feishu and requires running an install script. That repo has 2 stars today.
What it is
In one line: turn your chat apps into a remote control for the agent on your computer. You're out, you message the bot in WeChat "help me look at this error," and the DSH on your home computer reads files and runs commands, then sends the result back to the chat.
Install is through DSH's built-in plugin command, dsh plugin --profile web add -w @xmanrui/dsh-im. After a restart, an "IM Bot" page appears in settings. Most channels set up by QR code: Feishu, DingTalk, WeCom, and QQ auto-create a bot when you scan with your phone; WeChat binds by QR code; WhatsApp links a device by QR code. Slack, Telegram, and Discord need a token pasted in. iMessage and experimental Matrix support have been added as well.
The README's channel table shows the author actually used it. WeChat replies are split into segments of 1,800 characters and show "typing..." while the answer is pending. DingTalk streams output through an AI card. On Discord, the first @mention opens a thread, and after that no more @s are needed. WhatsApp responds only to chats with yourself by default, so friends' messages don't trigger the agent. Each channel can host multiple bots, each bound to a different workspace and model. Images can come in, and result files can go back out. None of this is something you'd think of on day one; it's what users asked for.
Over three months the version went from 0.16 to v5.10.0, and the most recent commit was 11-05.
Why this one
The author didn't start from zero. Before DSH, the hottest open-source agent was OpenClaw, and OpenClaw's whole approach was plugging agents into chat apps. xmanrui's earlier project, OpenClaw-bot-review (2,025 stars), is a panel for viewing OpenClaw bots, models and session state, and his Bilibili account is literally called "OpenClaw中文社区". DSH itself is built on Cordis, the same foundation as Koishi, the long-running Chinese chatbot framework. The other foundation is WeChat: in 2026 March, WeChat launched a ClawBot plugin entry and opened the iLink Bot protocol, so connecting a personal WeChat to an agent went through an official channel for the first time, with no simulated login and no ban risk (SegmentFault's 8-26 integration article). So when DSH launched, his main job was moving things he already knew over to it, which is probably why he could connect five channels in one day (inference).
One plugin for everything. zhuiyueya/dsh-im-gateway, launched the same day, claims to connect 20 platforms and has 59 stars today; dsh-lark, Feishu only, has 60 stars. Readers want "install one and you're done", and Chinese users are often on WeChat, Feishu and DingTalk at the same time. By Aug 26, SegmentFault's "How DeepSeek Harness Connects to WeChat: Four Routes" already listed it as a "mainstream integration option" (about 393 stars then), concluding that "ordinary users should pick dsh-im first".
The author promoted it himself, then the ecosystem took over. 8-16 and 8-17 were two Bilibili videos from him; 8-19 was posted in DSH's official discussion forum under "Show Your Plugins", and 8-29 was another post. 8-22 On X, a Chinese resource account reposted it: "Basically installs your own AI agent into WeChat and Telegram." 8-27 The Bilibili creator "全栈二把刀" made an episode, "DSH插件之IM接入", 8-21 and someone on Zhihu wrote a hands-on test of nine channels. After that, directories like awesome-dsh-plugin (22.6k stars) and dsh-plugin.org listed it. At that point it had become the default answer to "connect DSH to WeChat", and anyone searching later finds this one.
Growth has been steady. 10-17 was at 2,054 stars, 11-06 at 3,266 stars, gaining forty-some to over a hundred a day, and it has never made GitHub Trending. Over the last 7 days: +486; the first 7 days: +456. The biggest single day was 11-01 at +150, the same morning a 2.11M-view Bilibili full DSH tutorial went up, and several DSH plugins rose together, possibly pulled along by that video (inference; I haven't verified the video mentions it).
333 forks, which is 10% of stars, high for a plugin. It suggests many people are taking it, modifying it and deploying it themselves, not just bookmarking it.
Who it's competing with
| Project | Launched | Stars (11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| zhuiyueya/dsh-im-gateway | 08-14, same day | 59 | Aggregates 20+ platforms, shallowly |
| omdsh-dev/dsh-lark | 08-14 | 60 | Feishu only |
| ivorytower1026/dsh-im-bot | Around 08-15 | 2 | WeChat + Feishu, with a first CSDN article |
| wenbin-wb/dsh-bridge | 08-18 | 246 | Leans toward remote access, intranet tunneling and security monitoring |
| xcisxc29/dsh-wechat | 10-07 | 404,7 days +49 | WeChat only, nearly two months late, still hit 400 stars in a month |
| sandbox-quantum/switch | 07-16 | 3,929 | Puts agents into Slack, Teams, Discord and Telegram, framework-agnostic, English-speaking community, no Chinese IM |
| LangBot | From ¥2023 | Mature platform | Standalone bot hub connecting 30+ IMs, not a native DSH plugin |
Almost all similar DSH plugins handle only one channel, an order of magnitude behind it. The most telling entry is dsh-wechat: it arrived nearly two months after the platform launched, handles just one channel, and still reached 400 stars, now gaining 49 a week. So the need to "connect to chat apps" hasn't been fully covered in DSH, and deep single-channel plugins still find users.
If it were you
Verdict: don't build yet another DSH multi-channel IM plugin. This slot is already an order of magnitude ahead and still updated weekly. The lesson is the slot itself: every hot agent platform that launches creates demand to connect it to the chat apps users already have, one of the hardest-demand slots around, and whoever has done it once can do it again much faster.
Good fit for: developers who have already added IM to OpenClaw, DSH or another agent and have channel adapter code ready; people familiar with the WeChat, Feishu, DingTalk and WeCom open platforms.
Bad fit for: people who have never built an IM bot and would have to learn each platform's docs from scratch (by the time you finish three channels, the default answer is already set); anyone hoping to earn stars with a "toy" single-channel version.
How to do it:
- First, make the channel adapter layer framework-independent (receive messages, streaming replies, message splitting, sending images and files, permission allowlists). That's the part you can carry to the next platform.
- Watch for the next "everything is a plugin" agent platform. Be live from launch day to the next day; the first version should at least cover WeChat and Feishu, work with a QR code scan, then add a channel a day.
- Go deep where DSH's version is thin. dsh-wechat has shown that deep single-channel plugins have an audience. Look at the 77 open issues in dsh-im and pick one channel or scenario (group collaboration, WeCom self-built apps, or overseas channels like LINE and KakaoTalk that it doesn't cover) and make it the best option.
- Put the full package name and a one-line install command on the first screen of the README, and a channel table that explains how each platform is connected and how replies work.
How to get users: Same as it did. On launch day, record a Bilibili demo titled something like "Connect WeChat and Feishu to XX". Post in the plugin showcase section of the platform's official forum. Submit to awesome lists and plugin directories. Then wait for the first wave of Chinese reviews (CSDN, SegmentFault, Zhihu) to call you a "mainstream option".
When to move: within a week of a new platform's launch. dsh-im was called a "mainstream integration option" within 11 days of launch, and everyone who comes later is measured against its default position.
Signs you've misread it: ① DSH's official team ships its own IM connector, and this slot shrinks as a whole. Before you build "the platform's missing piece", check whether the platform will fill it itself. ② Single-channel plugins like dsh-wechat stall at a few hundred stars, which means DSH has run out of gaps. ③ The next hot agent platform ships with a built-in chat app entry, and this slot no longer exists.

xmanrui/dsh-im: why it took off
Research date: 2026-11-06 | Channel: GitHub | Data card recall score: 70
One line
It's the IM integration plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH, the open-source AI agent runtime from DeepSeek 2026-08-13). Install one plugin and you can hook about ten chat channels into your local DSH (Feishu, WeChat, DingTalk, WeCom, QQ, Slack, Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, plus experimental iMessage and Matrix), turning your phone's chat window into the front end for your agent.
Verdict
The core of its breakout is timing plus platform momentum: it launched the day after (2026-08-14) DSH, the hottest open-source agent framework of 2026, exactly filling the piece DSH was missing: a "phone entry point" for the terminal agent that sits at your desk. Among the competitors that flooded in the same day, it won on the most channels + the most detailed engineering + the fastest iteration, and became the de facto default IM connector in the DSH ecosystem.
Basic data (source: our GitHub library repo_profile / data card)
- Repo created 2026-08-14 (one day after DSH 2026-08-13 launched); today is day 84.
- Stars 3266, forks 333, open issues 77; MIT license; language JavaScript.
- Version v5.10.0,
pushed_at2026-11-05: still iterating at a high pace (went from 0.16 to v5.10 in three months). - Last 7 days: +486 stars; the first 7 days: +456 (+6.5%, steady rather than accelerating); averaging about 65 a day, with a single-day peak of 150 (11-01).
trending_days_any = 0: it has never made the GitHub trending list (its growth is a slow, steady build with no single-day surge).- Fork/star ≈ 10% (333/3266), high for a utility plugin, which suggests real deployment and forking, not just bookmarking.
How growth happened (with evidence)
- Riding the DSH wave (the main driver). DSH 2026-08-13 launched and hit the Hacker News front page the same day (747 points, per HN Algolia). It was the hottest open-source agent framework of the season and instantly sparked a gold-rush ecosystem of "everything is a plugin". Our library has 1382 projects under the
dsh-plugintopic (deepseekdocs.com/en/ecosystem), and DSH itself has 273k stars. dsh-im sits in the most urgent category of that wave (giving desktop agents a phone entry point). - Ecosystem directories and official channel listings. Listed in awesome-dsh-plugin (22.6k stars), the dsh-plugin.org plugin hub, the deepseekdocs.com ecosystem page, and tracked by trendshift (repo 169119). Self-promotion post #5080 (2026-08-29, "dsh-im | Connect DeepSeek Harness to 9 IMs") in DSH's official discussions.
- Chinese developer content spread from day one. A CSDN technical community article 2026-08-15 (the day after launch) walked readers through "turning WeChat and Feishu into AI agent entry points". A long Zhihu post 2026-08-21 tested nine IMs (when it was still at version 0.16.0). There are also Bilibili and YouTube videos and an oschina blog. Almost all of it is aimed at Chinese developers, which matches its focus on domestic IM (WeChat, Feishu, DingTalk, WeCom, QQ).
- The author already has ecosystem credibility. Author xmanrui's other repo
OpenClaw-bot-review(2025 stars, a panel for monitoring agent/bot status) shows he already had a following in the agent tools scene. This wasn't a cold start.
On X: searching the local x-radar corpus for "dsh-im / DeepSeek Harness IM" over the past 90 days turns up 0 posts. No major English X accounts have written about it. The buzz is inside the Chinese circle.
How many people know about it: it's being talked about in small circles
- Fairly well known within the circle: a self-promo post in DSH's official discussions, awesome lists, trendshift tracking, several Chinese reviews and videos. All point to its status as the default IM connector inside the DSH/Chinese dev plugin ecosystem.
- Barely broke out of the circle: dsh-im itself has never been posted to HN on its own (what's hot on HN is DSH itself and English-facing plugins). X corpus has 0 hits. No mainstream English media or big accounts have covered it.
- There's no revenue to speak of: it's MIT-licensed and a free plugin, never meant to make money (consistent with how GitHub-channel projects play). So there's no risk from public revenue discussion crowding it out.
Competitors (doing the same thing)
Inside the DSH ecosystem (direct competitors, also wiring IM into DSH)
| Project | Scale | Launched | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| zhuiyueya/dsh-im-gateway | 59 star | 2026-08-14 (same day) | A gateway claiming 20+ platforms but shallow. dsh-im crushes it on 3266 vs 59, showing they launched the same day and dsh-im won on execution, not the idea. |
| wenbin-wb/dsh-bridge | 246 star | 2026-08-18 | Leans toward "remote access + security guard + intranet tunneling" with narrower channel coverage. dsh-im is a batteries-included, multi-channel all-in-one. |
| xcisxc29/dsh-wechat | 404 star | 2026-10-07 | WeChat only; one dsh-im plugin covers 10+ channels |
| omdsh-dev/dsh-lark | 60 star | 2026-08-14 | Feishu only. Less depth and breadth than dsh-im. |
| AX1202/ax-feishu-bridge | 58 star | 2026-05-25 | Feishu single channel, compatible with Pi + DSH. |
| deepseek-harness discussions #6650 dsh-feishu-bot | — | 2026 | Feishu single channel. |
→ Nearly all in-ecosystem competitors are single-channel toys. dsh-im is the only one built into a production-grade, multi-channel all-in-one, an order of magnitude ahead.
Outside the ecosystem (the older, more mature "put an LLM into IM" space)
| Project | Scale | Launched | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| LangBot | A mature open-source platform with a website and docs site. | From ¥2023 | Standalone bot platform, connects Dify/Coze/n8n and 30+ IM platforms; it's a general middle layer, not natively running inside DSH. dsh-im is a native DSH plugin: a single dsh plugin add command installs it from the DSH settings page, reusing DSH's tools, sessions, and workspaces. |
| Koishi / Cordis | Mature chatbot framework | Years | DSH itself is built on Cordis (the dsh-im topic even lists cordis). So DSH's IM integration idea grew out of the Koishi adapter system. dsh-im effectively moves that proven multi-IM adapter pattern into the DSH context. |
| sandbox-quantum/switch | 3929 star | 2026-07-16 | An agent teammate for Slack/Teams/Discord/Telegram, any harness and any model, mostly for the English-speaking world. Doesn't cover Chinese IM. |
| countbot-ai/CountBot | 784 star | 2026-02 | A lightweight agent in its own right (not a pure connector), with built-in WeChat/Feishu/QQ integrations. |
→ "No competitors" is a false premise, but dsh-im's distinct niche is real: it's the only intersection of "native to DSH + Chinese IM focus + all-in-one multi-channel."
Copycats that have already appeared
Yes. Several plugins with the same purpose appeared after or on the same day: dsh-im-gateway (20+ platform aggregation, same day), dsh-wechat (WeChat), dsh-lark (Feishu), dsh-bridge, ax-feishu-bridge, and more. None has caught up. They're all stuck at single-channel or shallow aggregation.
What the differentiation is, and whether that's why it took off
The differentiation = "native DSH plugin" × "broadest channel coverage (10+)" × "finest engineering", three pieces:
- Native:
dsh plugin addinstalls it into DSH in one step, unified under the "Settings → IM bots" entry. It directly reuses DSH's Session/Workspace/tool system, with no separate service and no detour through HTTP ports. - Broad: one plugin covers Feishu/WeChat/DingTalk/WeCom/WeCom self-built apps/QQ/Slack/Telegram/Discord/WhatsApp, plus experimental iMessage/Matrix. Each channel can connect multiple bots, with status, workspace, model and session kept independent.
- Fine-grained: QR-code onboarding, streaming replies, group chat history collection (rolling 14 days), backfilling results after timeouts, bidirectional file/image return, voice interaction, queueing/interjecting, two-way session sync, permission allowlists. These are production details you only add after actually using the thing.
Yes, this differentiation is why it took off. The competitors launched the same day with the same idea (connect to IM), so dsh-im won by executing on these three pieces. Breadth made it the default "one is enough" pick. Engineering depth kept people who installed it around and got them spreading it (a high fork ratio). Native integration let it tap into DSH's ecosystem distribution.
What others can borrow
When a new agent framework or platform takes off fast, "hooking it up to the channels users already use (especially regional IM)" is a niche with fresh demand, winnable, with a short window. Playbook: ① launch on day one to ride the platform's distribution; ② spread wide across channels to be the "one is enough" choice; ③ firm up production details (streaming, resumable delivery, file return, permissions) so early users become evangelists; ④ get into ecosystem awesome lists, official discussions and plugin marketplaces to tap official distribution. The idea isn't scarce. Speed and completeness of execution are the moat.
Unknowns
- Stars ≠ usage. The 10% fork ratio suggests real deployments, but there are no download or MAU figures, so actual active user numbers are unverified.
- Hard to separate how much of the growth comes from the author's own ongoing promotion (self-promo posts, multi-platform content) versus organic inflow.
- The biggest survival risk: if DSH ships an official IM connector, it could directly eat this niche. So far the official side has only released a superagent prototype, with no IM work.
- No revenue involved (MIT, free). Monetization path unknown, and it isn't the goal.
