Official open-source release 77 min later, and a beta user had already torn open the 「精装修」: dsh-web 86 days 10k stars

What it is A plugin bundle for DeepSeek Harness's official Web UI: task board, mobile remote, SSH, token stats, 'Liang God mode', skins and a desktop pet, plus a creative workshop for collecting skins and pets.

Why it took off The author was a beta user, and shipped a complete product the moment the official repo went open source. The official UI is bare, so installing this makes it look different. It also has Liang God mode and a whale-girl mascot that's great for screenshots. It got picked up by nearly every 'must-install DSH plugins' article, and later the community skins in the workshop kept the long tail going.

CHow you could follow Don't build another all-in-one bundle on DSH Web. Copy its playbook on a platform that's about to open source: during beta, build the experience layer the official version lacks, launch with screenshots on a vertical community the day it goes open source, give the pain points a memorable name, and add a shareable skin layer before opening a workshop.

Grade C: its spot came from beta access, which followers can't get. The DSH UI layer already has two 10k-star-class desktop clients and over a thousand plugins, and the official team is filling gaps itself. Its own growth is slowing too. The playbook is worth learning, but copying it directly isn't worth it. Chatter in small circles

dsh-web is a plugin bundle for the official DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web UI. One command installs a task board, mobile remote, Web SSH, token stats, 'Liang God mode', a whale-girl desktop pet and a skin center. The author was one of DSH's 300 beta users, and had it built on an internal snapshot more than a week before the official open-source release. He posted on LINUX DO 77 minutes after the official repo was created. In 4 days it reached about 3.7k stars, and by Nov 6 it was at 10,117 stars (GitHub, 11-06). Below: what it is, where the stars came from, who it competes with, and what followers can still get.

Aug 13, 9 p.m.

On 2026 Aug 13, Beijing time 19:56, DeepSeek created the official DSH repo on GitHub. 21:13, LINUX DO user linxin posted an 'open-source self-promotion' thread titled 'DeepSeek Harness Web UI: dsh-web-ui'. The opening goes like this:

I've been through a lot lately: from full-stack engineer to unemployed, and then getting into the DeepSeek Harness beta. It's been quite eventful... It was a real privilege to join the DSH beta. In it, I mainly built a Web UI plugin.

Below are a dozen-plus screenshots: a five-column task board, a Git graph, the phone screen after scanning the pairing QR code, 6 'try before you apply' skins, and a whale-girl. The first replies were 'UI already? So fast' and 'skin packs already, right after launch.' As of November, the thread had 7,580 views, 516 likes and 131 replies (LINUX DO).

He could move this fast because the work was already done. The first commit in the repo is from Aug 4, titled 'Web UI integration based on the official 0804 snapshot.' By Aug 5 he was already making QQ98- and Tonghuashun-style skins. By Aug 10 he was adapting to 'the 20260809 upstream.' The official npm package only shipped its first prerelease on Aug 10. Near the end of the post, the author describes the beta's size himself: 'There were only 300 testers in total, but in these two short weeks we built 200 plugins.'

What it is

DSH ships with an official Web UI (dsh web), which at open-source time was just a chat box. One review on Zhihu put it this way: 'The default dsh web UI is just a plain chat box. After using it for a while, you'll feel it's too bare.' dsh-web attaches through the official profile mechanism, without changing official code, and turns it into a workbench:

  • Task board: a five-column board where cards actually open DSH sessions to run. Supports Cron scheduling, auto-dispatching child tasks from a parent card, and a second model acting as judge for acceptance.
  • Liang God mode: a minimal preset. When DSH first came out, DeepSeek-V4-Pro behaved unstably in it and the community argued about it. The author used a minimal prompt to stabilize the model first, then unlocked all the tools, and posted his self-test scores in an issue (Minimal 99/96 vs Standard 91/92). The entry is a slot-machine lever next to the input box, with a jackpot effect when you pull it.
  • Other: remote control by scanning a phone QR code, Web SSH, token usage and balance, session archiving, a live browser view in the right sidebar, a skin center and a desktop pet.
  • Creative workshop dsh-market.com: launched in late August, it accepts skins, pets and presets, and now has 214 items. The most popular skin, 'Deep Sea Maid Workshop', has 17,080 installs, 'Whale Girl · Unreached Realm' has 12,416, and the whale-girl desktop pet has 6,163 (dsh-market.com, 11-06).

TypeScript, Apache-2.0. The npm bundle @linxin666/dsh-web-all installs everything in one go, and each piece can also be installed separately. In 86 days: 3,865 commits, 65 releases, with the author himself accounting for 2,664 of the commits. On Aug 24 it was renamed from dsh-web-ui to dsh-web. It's free, and the README only has a business-cooperation email.

11-0610,117Last 7 days +335, the 7 days before that +466, slowing down

Figures from October onward come from GitHub's daily star counts. Figures for August come from article titles. Five sources of traffic can be identified:

Beta head start. The moment the official repo opened, others were still figuring out how to write plugins, while it already had a board, mobile remote, SSH, a desktop pet and 6 skins. That's why it took about 40% of all its stars in the first week, and the most important line in this article: this position was earned through beta access.

The author's existing base on LINUX DO. A few months earlier, he had built deepseek-pp (1,848 stars), a browser extension that makes the DeepSeek web app work like an agent, and his first post opens by leaning on it. LINUX DO's open-source promotion rules require projects to link to community resources, and the first item in the README's 'Friendly links' section is that project.

'Must-install plugins' lists. After DSH opened, a batch of 'must-install DSH plugins' articles appeared on Zhihu, Tencent Cloud, Cnblogs and CSDN. It appears in nearly all of them, often near the top. The Zhihu piece 'The 10 DSH plugins you must install' ranks it second, saying 'If I could only have you install one plugin, I'd pick dsh-web-ui.' People writing these lists need something that visibly changes the UI for screenshots, and a full bundle fits best. The whale girl and anime skins are also good-looking, so articles and videos use them as cover images. The 35k-star desktop client anywhere-labs/dsh-desktop also links to it in its README.

Workshop feedback loop. Third-party skin and pet creators (the whale-girl series, Wuthering Waves Phoebe, Genshin Furina, doro...) submit their work as PRs and share it themselves. The workshop header permanently shows a GitHub link labeled '10.2k'. This was only set up in late August, and its role is sustaining the long tail, not driving the initial surge.

SEO. The end of the README has a long block of keywords: 'DeepSeek skins', 'DeepSeek mobile', 'DeepSeek token stats', 'DeepSeek balance check'... and the image alt text is packed with search terms.

No sign of star-botting: the fork-to-star ratio is about 6%, and the curve is smooth. The README badges '12.2M downloads' and '1.4M users' are the author's own counts, with unclear methodology, so don't take them at face value. The official npm API shows the two bundle packages combined at about 230k downloads in August and about 110k in October, and falling.

Who it's competing with

'Making DSH's UI better to use' was the first direction to get crowded after DSH opened. In August, DSH's plugin directory already listed 1,117 plugins.

ProjectLaunchedScaleHow dsh-web differs
DSH official Web / official desktop appFrom ¥08-13275k stars on the official repoThe official side has already added a plugin page, automation tasks and creation mode. dsh-web is an add-on, so each piece the official team fills in takes one away from it.

Single skin / pet products (dsh-deep-whale, dsh-wallpaper-engine, etc.)08-13~183.0k to 6.9k starsSingle products. The two most popular skins are distributed through dsh-web's workshop.

This table shows that every one of its individual features has someone else building it, and some of those single products have as many stars as it does. Its difference is 'one package that fills in the official Web UI', plus a workshop for skins, pets and presets. In this form, it was the earliest and the biggest.

Few people have copied the whole package. Most of the 626 forks are same-name forks. loguhan/dsh-workshop borrows the Steam Workshop model for a plugin marketplace, with 5 stars.

If it were you

C: learn its approach, but don't go head-to-head on DSH Web. Its position came from beta access: 300 people got the snapshot two weeks early, so on open-source day it already had a complete product in hand. Followers can't get that. The DSH UI layer is already filled by it, two 10k-star-class desktop clients and over a thousand plugins. The official team is filling gaps one by one. And its own growth is slowing (down from about 466 stars a week to 335 over the last two weeks). Building another all-in-one DSH Web bundle now is unlikely to reach the front of the lists.

Who it suits: developers who can get beta access to a major platform, or who can keep track of 'the next agent framework that just went open source'; people who can make good-looking UIs and are willing to spend time on anime skins and desktop pets.

Who it doesn't suit: anyone who wants to build a feature-complete everything-bundle from scratch on DSH; anyone who can only build a single function without a community base. A single product can reach a few thousand stars on DSH, but breaking into the top few of the lists depends on getting there first.

How to do it: follow its playbook on a platform that's about to open source. ① While the platform is still in beta or just released a snapshot, do one thing: build the layer the official UI lacks as a one-command, all-in-one bundle where the difference shows up in a screenshot. ② Give one of the model's or platform's pain points a memorable name ('Liang God mode'), attach self-test scores, and build in a topic. ③ Keep a shareable appearance layer (skins, desktop pets). Once traffic arrives, open a workshop so others can submit work and installs get counted, which turns one-time buzz into ongoing content. If you insist on staying on DSH, the narrower open spaces are: presets and board templates for specific audiences (ops, writing, stock trading), or porting the workshop's most popular skins into a version that also works on the desktop app.

How to get users: launch on the vertical community where the platform's users are most concentrated (here, LINUX DO), ideally within an hour of open-sourcing, with a dozen-plus screenshots in the post. Proactively hand the project to the authors writing 'must-install plugins' lists. Add a keyword index to the README, and put a link to the repo in the workshop header.

When it's too late: the window for the UI layer in this DSH wave has already passed. If you apply this playbook to another platform, the window is the platform's first week after it opens source. Once the first wave of list articles is out, the positions are set.

What would show you got it wrong: ① a DSH Web plugin package first appearing after August gains 3,000 stars within a month. That would mean the DSH UI layer still has room for positions that don't depend on being first, and it should be upgraded to B. ② dsh-web's weekly star gain climbs back above 500, not because the author posted something new, but because its stars come from steady natural search by new users, which followers could also capture. ③ The official DSH Web adds a board, mobile remote and skins. Its value would then get absorbed, and even the lesson to copy would matter less.

Why zhu1090093659/dsh-web took off

Research date 2026-11-06. Data card: repo created 2026-08-12, stars 10117 (GitHub API already showed 10162 that day), forks 623, +335 over the last 7 days and +466 over the 7 days before that, largest single-day gain in the observation window +130 (10-22), latest version v0.4.15. Original name dsh-web-ui, renamed to dsh-web 2026-08-24 (commit "chore(repo): rename product from dsh-web-ui to dsh-web").

One line

The author linxin (GitHub zhu1090093659, previously maker of deepseek-pp, a DeepSeek web extension with 1848 stars) was a DSH beta user. Working from the official August snapshot, they built the Web UI plugin bundle more than a week before launch. The official repo went open source 08-13 11:56 UTC, and 13:13 they posted the "open-source recommendation" on LINUX DO (7580 views, 516 likes). The official dsh web was a bare chat box at the time. One command here installed a task board, mobile remote, SSH, token stats, Liang-god mode, a whale-girl pet, and a skin center. Zhihu, Tencent Cloud, and cnblogs "must-install DSH plugins" articles made it the top recommendation, and it reached 3.7k stars in 4 days. Afterward, a self-hosted creative workshop at dsh-market.com (skins, pets, presets) and frequent high-tempo iteration turned the launch spike into a long tail of 40–100 stars a day.

1. What it is

  • A plugin bundle for the official DSH Web GUI (dsh web) and the official desktop client. It mounts through the official profile mechanism and does not modify official source. npm aggregate package @linxin666/dsh-web-all (formerly @linxin666/dsh-web-ui-all), and individual packages can be installed as needed. Source: repo README.
  • Key features: task board (five-column kanban, real DSH session execution, Cron scheduling, parent cards dispatching child tasks, judge-model acceptance), a "Liang-god mode" preset (starts with a minimal preset to stabilize DeepSeek-V4-Pro, then restores all tools; adds describe_image so text-only models can see images), agent squads, a live browser view in the right sidebar, mobile QR remote, Web SSH, token usage and balance, session archive, skin center, and desktop pets.
  • Creative workshop dsh-market.com: a static site built from the same repo, with Cloudflare Workers/D1 for like counts, currently 214 works. The top item, the "Deep Sea Maid Workshop" skin, has 17080 installs; "Whale Girl · Realm Beyond" has 12416; the whale-girl desktop pet has 6163 (dsh-market.com homepage, 2026-11-06). Skins, pets, presets, and the community plugin index are split into the repos dsh-skins, dsh-pet, dsh-presets, and dsh-community-plugins.
  • 3865 commits; main contributor zhu1090093659 with 2664 commits, second place Aa728848 with 588 commits, plus skin/pet contributors such as stushansusu and Theater-ahyeon (GitHub contributors API). The README has a business-cooperation email, but no paid tier was found.

2. Timing: beta head start

  • The earliest commit is 2026-08-04: "working-activity plugin for DSH (community edition) … Web UI integration on official 0804 snapshot"; 08-05 was already building QQ98 and Tonghuashun-style skins; 08-10 "adapt personal customizations to the 20260809 upstream". The npm package @deepseek-ai/dsh only shipped its first rc 08-10, and the official GitHub repo was created 08-13 11:56 UTC. In other words, the author had the official snapshot more than a week before public release.
  • The LINUX DO launch post (linux.do/t/topic/2751323) went out 2026-08-13 13:13 UTC, about 77 minutes after the official repo was created. Quote: "I went from full-stack engineer to unemployed, and then took part in the DeepSeek Harness beta… It was a great honor to join the DSH beta. I mainly built a Web UI plugin." The first replies were "a UI already, this fast?" and "a skin pack already, right after launch?" The post has 7580 views, 516 likes, and 131 replies (Discourse API).
  • The official Web UI was very bare at the time. A Zhihu article's words: "The default dsh web interface is just a plain chat box, and after a while you feel it's too bare." Another said DSH is "genuinely garbage for casual AI players, unlike desktop-style Agents you can use right out of the box." DeepSeek-V4-Pro's first-round performance in DSH was unstable and the community was arguing about it, and "Liang-god mode" caught that conversation.

Star curve: 08-13 launch → about 4k within 3.7 days (Zhihu headline) → about 08-19k around 4.3 (Tencent Cloud) → 10-09 8516 (deeply sourced from our GitHub database) → 10-17 8827 → 11-06 10117. So it picked up roughly 40% in the first week; mid-August to early October it averaged about 80 a day; after October it averaged 40–60 a day, and it has slowed in the last two weeks (prev_7d 466 → gain_7d 335). The cause of the 10-22 single-day +130 is unverified.

npm downloads (api.npmjs.org): the two aggregate packages combined were about 233k in August, about 162k in September, and about 109k in October; the task board subpackage had 226k in August and 120k in October. This includes CI, mirrors, and updates, so it is not a user count, but the trend is down. The README badge "12.2m total downloads" is the author's Worker summing multiple packages before and after renaming, and "users 1.4m" comes from their own telemetry. Neither count can be verified, so don't take them at face value.

Takeaway: the same goal (making DSH's web version more usable) has many single-point plugins and several desktop clients; building the 'full bundle + skin marketplace' form on the official web is the earliest and largest of them.

5. Why this one (the reasons)

  1. Beta head start: 08-04 developed on the official snapshot, and posted 77 minutes after the official open-source release. At launch it already had a board, Git graph, mobile remote, SSH, the whale-girl pet, and 6 skins, while others were still figuring out how to write plugins.
  2. Hits the 'bare shell' pain point: the official web only has a chat box; it turns the interface into a 'finished home' with one command. Reviewers said 'only install one, install this one' and 'many features the official one lacks are implemented here'. Tutorial articles need a 'looks different after install' demo, and it's the best for screenshots.
  3. Topic hook: 'Liang God Mode' directly responds to the community debate over DeepSeek-V4-Pro's poor first-round performance, with self-test scores attached (Minimal 99/96 vs Standard 91/92, issue #266). The whale-girl pet and anime skins look good and are shareable, giving articles and videos material.
  4. Has a community and prior work: long-time LINUX DO users and the author of deepseek-pp; the first post got hundreds of likes on day one. It was then included in 'must-install plugin' lists from Zhihu, Tencent Cloud, Cnblogs, and CSDN.
  5. Turns visual assets into a community workshop: dsh-market.com gives third-party skin/pet creators a place to post work, with install counts and likes, so they come to submit PRs and share; the workshop header permanently links the GitHub star, creating a return flow.
  6. Execution intensity: 86 days, 3865 commits, 65 releases; it keeps adapting to the official 0.1 → 0.2.2 breaking updates and keeps adding heavier features like Cron and a referee acceptance check to the board, keeping long-time users around.

6. Differentiation

Its difference isn't any single feature (mobile remote, SSH, desktop pets, and skins each have standalone products, some with no fewer stars), but 'one package that fills in the official web + a creative workshop for skins/pets/presets'. Early growth came mainly from the 'earliest, most complete, best-screenshot' full-bundle form (plus the beta head start); the workshop and UGC skins took shape only in late August, serving to sustain the long tail and community rather than being the cause of the initial surge. The card's recall reason says 'use derivative skins to attract traffic back to GitHub'; by timing, that's a later amplifier, not the starting point.

7. Visibility

Word in small circles: nearly every 'must-install plugin' article in the Chinese DSH community lists it (several Zhihu posts, Tencent Cloud, Cnblogs, CSDN, a LINUX DO thread with 7580 views), and desktop client READMEs link to it; but x-radar's local corpus has no related tweets, and I found no English influencer or mainstream outlet writing about it specifically. It's free, revenue is undisclosed, and the README only lists a business cooperation email.

8. Copycats

Few copied it wholesale: 626 forks (e.g., Lem0nTea2002, ShiroEirin's same-named fork); loguhan/dsh-workshop borrows Steam's Workshop to build a plugin marketplace (5 stars); more are same-category projects that split out single pieces (mobile remote, pets, skins), mostly appearing around the same time, so it's hard to say who copied whom.

9. Takeaways

  • Before the platform went open source, it got beta access and polished the 'experience layer the official one lacks' first, then launched with screenshots on a vertical community (LINUX DO) the day it went open.
  • Built a 'full bundle' rather than a single-point plugin: reviewers writing lists most need a project that looks different once installed to demo.
  • Gave the model's pain point a memorable name ('Liang God Mode') with self-test scores, which carries its own talking point.
  • Used anime skins and desktop pets, things easy to screenshot, as the visual layer, then opened a workshop for community creators to submit and count installs, turning one-time buzz into a long-term content supply; the workshop header links the repo star.
  • README is built as an SEO keyword index, with badges showing big attractive numbers (note: keep your own understanding of how those numbers are counted).

10. Uncertain

  • Channels by which the author got beta access, and any other cooperation with the official side, are unverified.
  • How much of the 4-day 3.7k stars came from LINUX DO, Zhihu articles, and desktop-client links? No referrer data (the GitHub stargazer endpoint was 404 this time, and the ossinsight API returned an error).
  • Whether the Zhihu/Tencent Cloud articles were organic or commissioned is unverified.
  • The reason for 10-22's single-day +130 is unverified.
  • The counting basis for the telemetry '1.4m users' and '12.2m downloads' is unclear.
  • The official desktop app already has features like 'automation tasks'; whether the official web side absorbs its full-bundle value as it continues to build out is worth watching. npm downloads are declining from 8 in October.
