# [006] Touchscreen MacBook Pro (on sale 11-06): small Mac tools built touch-first for creative and pro workflows

> Stringers answers one question every day: what small product can one or two people build in a few months and actually make money from. Numbers come from 15 databases we collect daily, each with source and date.
> For agents: these verdicts and the underlying databases (verified revenue, App Store / Google Play charts, ad libraries, GitHub, Product Hunt…) are queryable live over MCP — tools today / hot / products / directions / direction / data. > Reference [001]: in the first few weeks after new hardware launches, a solo-built product designed for the new form factor can climb the charts.

# Touchscreen MacBook Pro (on sale 11-06): 'touch-first' Mac tools for creative and professional workflows

Why now, and how long the window lasts

Compare [001]: within a few weeks of new hardware launching, a small product built by one person and designed for the new form factor can chart. The difference is that a touchscreen Mac has no hook like "opens and closes" to play with, and its users skew more professional.

Confidence

Low. So far there is only launch-event information and X chatter, with no market data at all. What would overturn this: within two weeks of 11-06, no touchscreen-Mac-specific tool gains traction on PH or X. How to recheck: search PH for "touch Mac" and search X for "touchscreen MacBook app."

## Evidence

Grouped by store. Each group starts with the charts that can be graphed (real curves, data dates below the chart), then the scanner's original notes and source links.

### Other sources (official sites, press releases, web pages) 1 pieces of evidence

- Apple press release (2026-10-28): the new MacBook Pro uses a PROLED XDR touchscreen, with preorders on 10-28 and sales from 11-06. macOS will automatically translate touch into clicks, and there is an updated system gesture API. The first batch of named compatible apps are all big players (Notion, Canva, Office, Lightroom, DaVinci, Blender, Shapr3D, djay Pro).

### X1 pieces of evidence

- X (local library): Reactions skew negative. @ImSh4yy 10-27 "touch screens aren't for serious work" (❤4,725); @marclou 10-30 "MacBook touchscreen is a flop"; @daniel_nguyenx 10-29 stays optimistic.

### App Store 1 pieces of evidence

- Our App Store library only covers the iOS charts. We can't see the Mac App Store, so there is no direct demand evidence.

## The hardest step

Find a scenario that only works with a touchscreen (touch control panels for color grading and editing, DJ and instrument control, whiteboarding, touch annotation during presentations; inference). Also, the Mac App Store's charts and exposure mechanics differ from iOS.

## Who it's for

Indie developers who have built iPad or Mac creative tools; one-time purchase or subscription.

## Should every product builder know this?

Yes (look at it together with [001]).

## Change log

2026-11-06

Recheck on arrival day: the Mac App Store (us, gb, de, jp; native apps launched after 10-20) has no touch-specific app, and no launch since PH 10-28 combines touch and Mac. The reason is timing (the charts lag the arrival by a day), not disproof. Baseline comparison: the native small tools that charted in the last few days are Super Menu (Sindre Sorhus, #21 Top Paid in de, #39 in us), Netmo 2 (#1 in de Weather), and Keyscene (#1 in jp Sports). Next recheck 11-10: see whether any native app launched after 10-28 with touch in its description enters the Top Paid top 100.

2026-11-02

Waiting for 11-06 arrivals; no new data today.

2026-11-01

The Mac App Store data starts today, so this is the first baseline (US store and 20 others, 11-01): native Mac utilities that debuted in the last 90 days and charted in Top Paid: Weatherling (desktop rain and snow effects, $1.99) #21 on the US overall Top Paid chart; Peek ($3.99) #14 in the UK store; Super Menu (Sindre Sorhus, $4) #11 in the German store; Netmo 2 #7 in Germany. This shows a solo-built, native Mac one-time-purchase tool can reach the top 25 of Top Paid. Once 11-06 ships, we'll benchmark against these ranks and see whether a touch-only app can break in. No touchscreen Mac app exists yet.

2026-10-31

First record. Re-check begins after 11-06 ships.
