Why now, and how long the window lasts

Image-editing models can now reliably "keep the original object and change only parts", so "what my car looks like modified" is usable for the first time. Generic AI wrappers run on paid acquisition + weekly subscription and decay within weeks (§4 of "Stringers"); vertical users arrive with a concrete need, so the reason to pay is clear (inference). The car-mod slot is narrowing; other verticals are measured in quarters.

Confidence

Medium-low. Car mods have several new apps and top-chart rankings, but no revenue is visible; the transferable verticals weren't checked one by one. Would be overturned if: ModsTune drops out of the top 30 in A&D top grossing in us and ca; or 11-28's 30 days of data show these apps only accumulate installs with none reaching top grossing.

For comparison, the median advertiser count on the first screen for general AI photo / video opportunities is 268–398 ads (Meta report §5); no heavy paid acquisition shows up in this vertical (the term list doesn't cover it).

## Already doing it

On Google Play: ModsTune (leader), Midas, Car Z, Car Modify, ReMod; on iOS: Modyfy, Mods, RevMod, GarageLab, Tunery. Among the verticals we could transplant, hairstyles, tattoos and interior design already have factories.

## The hardest step

Generated results have to look like "my car." Midas's 1.29-star reviews and ModsTune's bad reviews both say "the generated car has nothing to do with mine"; the second problem is reviews hurt by paywalls that come too early.

## Who it's for

A team of 1–2 people who know a hobby community well (car tuning, motorcycles, bicycles, gardening, pet grooming…) and can operate image editing models; subscription or per-use pricing.

## Should every product builder know this?

Yes. "Generic AI image wrappers are a trap; verticals with a specific subject have real paying users" is the most useful dividing line for AI consumer apps this year.
