'A hidden free app builder inside ChatGPT': AppDeploy crawled into the global top 250k via TikTok and app directories, but the spot has already been copied and OpenAI is getting in too

What it is A deployment service that plugs into ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor: the AI hands its finished code over, and it returns a working URL with the database, login and storage already set up.

Why it took off It got into the ChatGPT app directory early and works on free ChatGPT accounts (OpenAI's own Sites is paid-only). Then dedicated TikTok accounts and paid creators kept pushing 'the hidden free app tool in ChatGPT'; the top video hit 1,400 million+ views, and markets like the Philippines, Indonesia and Brazil took off first.

CHow you could follow Don't build a general deployment platform. Pick a group of non-technical users (teachers, small shops, training schools) and build a dedicated app inside ChatGPT and Claude, then copy its approach: get listed in the directories and run dedicated TikTok accounts pitching the hidden feature.

Grade C: the playbook is portable, but general chat-based deployment hosting already has an almost identical rival, Hatchable, climbing at the same time, and OpenAI's Sites could be opened to free users at any time. Followers would have to carry the whole hosting infrastructure, and nobody knows the paid conversion rate. Being talked about in small circles

Global rank 243k · 90 days ago, top 1M+

AppDeploy is a deployment service built by a small Israeli team. Once installed in ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor, the AI hands its finished code over, and about a minute later you get a working URL with database, login and storage set up. In 90 days it climbed from beyond the 1M mark in global website rankings to 240k, pushed not by developers but by a group of TikTok accounts talking about 'AI side hustles.' It turned 'grabbing early spots in the ChatGPT app directory' and 'mass distribution through dedicated TikTok accounts' into one playbook, and that playbook is worth studying. Building the same thing again isn't worth much: the near-identical Hatchable is climbing at the same time, and OpenAI's own Sites is already live.

A 14M-view video

In 2026 May 23, the TikTok account @sam.deploy posted a 14-second video titled 'ChatGPT + Appdeploy.ai makes this feel illegal 🤯'. By Nov 6, the video had 14.2M views and 2,373 comments.

The most-liked comments aren't about the tech: 'where's my kiss?' with 956 likes, 'I wonder how much water this uses' with 560 likes. From the comments, the gist of the voiceover seems to be 'I could kiss the person who showed me this' (inferred). Others ask seriously: 'is it free', 'i did mine but how will I upload it on playstore'.

The account has 25k followers, its profile link is appdeploy.ai/?ref=tiktok_sam, and 'deploy' is in the name. It's essentially safe to assume it's an AppDeploy-run or contracted dedicated account (inferred; whether staff, contracted creator or revenue share can't be seen from outside). Later it kept posting in the same format: 'I created a fully functional hospital management system with AI', 'I could literally KISS my mother for showing me this', and from October added 'comment 'Deploy' to get it', asking people to comment for the link.

What it is

Search for AppDeploy in ChatGPT's sidebar plugins and connect it. Then tell ChatGPT 'build me an expense-tracking app'. ChatGPT writes the code, calls AppDeploy after it's done, and returns a URL like xxx.v2.appdeploy.ai that you can open and use. Database, user login, file storage, scheduled jobs, automated tests and rollbacks are all included. The same service also plugs into Claude, Cursor, Codex, Figma Make and Notion via MCP, a general interface for giving AI tools.

It doesn't write code itself and doesn't bring its own AI. The code comes from the ChatGPT or Claude the user already pays for, the model costs are covered by the user's own subscription, and AppDeploy only handles hosting. That's why it can afford a free tier.

Timeline: the first article on the official site is dated 2026 Feb 14; converting the ChatGPT app page's number suggests it was first set up around January (inferred); by Apr 20 someone was already writing on Trustpilot 'Did it all straight out of chat gpt'; in May 31 a Facebook blogger posted 'ChatGPT's app store just added AppDeploy, and it works with free accounts too'.

How fast it climbed

DateGlobal website ranking (Tranco)
Aug 20930,745, first entered the top 1M
Sep 3540,963

In the last week it's been moving up two to five thousand places a day. By Chrome real-user tiers, it reached the global top 1M in June and the top 500k in September; the Philippines was already in the top 100k by September; Australia, Brazil, Spain, France, the UK, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam entered the top 500k for the first time in September, and the US went from the top 1M to the top 500k as well.

One caveat: the ranking isn't all official-site traffic. User-built apps sit under its subdomains, and in several countries the most-visited URLs are user apps, such as the-sexuality-navigator-…v2.appdeploy.ai in Australia and yanjiuyuan-skin-check-…v2.appdeploy.ai in Taiwan. The more apps users build and the more they get visited, the higher the main domain climbs, the same as with vercel.app or lovable.app. How much is official site, API calls, and user apps can't be separated from outside.

Where users come from

ChatGPT app directory. The install instructions are one line: open ChatGPT, search AppDeploy under Plugins in the sidebar. OpenAI opened app submissions in 2025 December, AppDeploy went live in early 2026, when few directory options could deploy a full app directly. It has since landed in the Claude, Notion and Figma Make connectors, the Webex app store, and a string of MCP and AI tool directories. Each directory is a free front door.

TikTok, and organized. Besides @sam.deploy, there's:

  • @creators.hustle (46K followers, bio says open for brand deals): Sep 1 one video with 2.77M views, labeled "Paid partnership" on TikTok, so it's a paid deal.
  • @hustle.faceless (380K followers, AI tool reposter): Jun 29 "This ChatGPT app lets you build real apps for free" with 2.57M views, then 9, October three more posts saying "Comment 'APPDEPLOY' and I'll send you the link".
  • @shigcodes (Philippines, 78K followers): Sep 20 one video with 760K views, matching the Philippines' September spike in the top 100K.
  • Smaller accounts in Nigeria, Pakistan and elsewhere, tens of thousands to low hundreds of thousands of views.

The pitch is nearly identical: a free tool hidden inside ChatGPT that builds real apps, "feels illegal", "since when can ChatGPT do this". It targets ordinary people looking for a side hustle, not programmers. It first charted in August and accelerated in September, right behind that September wave of videos (the ranking is a 30-day rolling average, so it lags).

The free ChatGPT tier is what makes the hook work. OpenAI launched its own ChatGPT Sites in July, letting ChatGPT build and host websites directly, but OpenAI's help center is clear: Sites are only for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, "not available on Free or Go" (checked 11-06). A lot of users in the Philippines, India, Indonesia and Nigeria run on free ChatGPT, and OpenAI doesn't cover them. AppDeploy caught them.

Every app is an ad for it. The free tier has a watermark, and the URL is an AppDeploy subdomain. A French vocational school teacher built a tool for students, a Nigerian teacher built an exam system, and once those links got shared, everyone who saw them saw AppDeploy.

Support. 14 reviews on Trustpilot at 4.4 stars, and several say they hit their quota, contacted support, and the team upgraded them for free, removed the watermark and reset the quota. For first-time app builders, that counts for more than any feature. Many of these good reviews cluster in September, and I can't tell whether they were prompted.

There are also SEO articles comparing it to Vercel, Netlify and Lovable, plus recommendation replies under "deployment is hard" posts on Reddit. I found no big X account writing about it and no funding or press coverage.

Who it's competing with

CompetitorsWhat it isHow it differs
Hatchable (the Woobox team)Almost identical: ChatGPT apps, MCP, free database and login includedFree tier is more generous and not metered by points; paid $12/mo. Global rank 10-08 919K → 11-05 475K, also in India and the Philippines' top 100K
ChatGPT Sites(OpenAI)ChatGPT's built-in site builder and hostingPaid users only, ChatGPT only; hosting free until 2027 Jan 1, then usage-based

Lovable (also has a ChatGPT app)All-in-one site builder with its own editor and AIGlobal rank about 3,600, August valuation $13.3B; charged per message
Replit in ChatGPTBig-company tierRuns its own agent and IDE; ChatGPT is just an entry point
Bolt.new, Base44All-in-one AI site buildingGlobal ranks 26K and 17K; you have to leave the chat window
Netlify and Vercel MCPDeveloper hostingNeeds accounts, git and framework config; no ready-made database or login

AppDeploy's differentiation is real: one integration, works with any AI, backend out of the box, and the model cost isn't on the builder. But none of this is hard to copy, and Hatchable is the proof. What really separates it is distribution: it got into the directories early and pushed hard on TikTok.

If it were you

C: The playbook is worth learning, but building another AppDeploy isn't worth it. "Make the product a ChatGPT app, let the user's subscription pay the model costs, run TikTok accounts that teach hidden features" is a playbook you can take. But the "general chat-based deploy and host" spot already has two same-shaped players climbing, OpenAI's Sites could open to free users at any time, and you'd have to carry the whole stack of database, login and hosting. There are many free users, and nobody knows how many will pay.

Who it suits: 1–3 people, some who have run hosting, databases or SaaS backends, and some who can make short video or find creators on TikTok; ideally familiar with one non-technical group, like teachers, small shop owners or training institutions.

Who it doesn't suit: anyone who wants to head-on build a better general deployment platform to compete with Hatchable, Lovable and OpenAI; anyone who can't absorb the hosting cost of free users; anyone counting on directory traffic alone without making content.

How to do it: don't build the general version, build the part it hasn't gone deep on. Opportunities are already visible among AppDeploy's users: teachers making quizzes and exams, small shops doing bookings and orders, training centers running sign-up forms. Pick one group and build it as an app in ChatGPT and Claude, with built-in templates, forms, payments and data export for that kind of app. It's free to use, and you charge for "remove watermark + custom domain + more students/customers". Or go somewhere OpenAI and AppDeploy haven't seriously worked: local-language video and support in non-English markets, plugging into entry points like Gemini and Meta that are still early.

How to get users: copy its approach. Get the app into the ChatGPT directory and Claude connectors first, and write the store title and description with words your target group actually searches. Open one or two dedicated TikTok accounts with tracking parameters in the links, use a fixed pattern ("Teachers, there's a free tool in ChatGPT that builds an exam system in a minute"), and pair it with comment-keyword lead capture. Then pay a few relevant mid-tier creators for partnerships. The free tier keeps the watermark and subdomain.

When before? OpenAI's Sites hosting is free until 2027 Jan 1 and then starts charging, which is when paid users might spill over. But if OpenAI opens Sites to free users first, the "free ChatGPT works too" hook is gone. Best to launch and get the first batch of videos out before Q1 2027.

What would show you got it wrong: ① OpenAI opens Sites to Free or Go users and AppDeploy's ranking drops back beyond 500K a month or two later: the spot has been taken by a big player, and even the niche-group version needs rethinking; ② conversely, AppDeploy and Hatchable are still climbing into early 2027, say into the top 100K, which means the general spot has room for a third player and I rated C too low; ③ a same-type product aimed at teachers or small shops appears in the directories and climbs into the top 500K within a few months, which says the niche path is right but someone got there before you.

AppDeploy (appdeploy.ai): why it broke out

Channel: web (C2; it's not in any of our other libraries). Research date 2026-11-07. Data sources: traffic library (Tranco / CrUX, as of 2026-11-05 / 2026-09), TikTok search results scraped by TikHub (2026-11-07), official site and third-party web pages (read via Jina).

One line

AppDeploy is a small team in Tel Aviv that offers "deploy apps inside the chat window" hosting. It ships as an MCP server / ChatGPT App, installed into ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex, Figma Make, Notion and other AI tools. The user has AI write the code, AI calls AppDeploy to get back a working live URL, and the database, login, storage, scheduled tasks and automatic QA are all handled for them. It broke out on three things:

  1. It got into the ChatGPT app directory early, and free-tier ChatGPT accounts can use it.
  2. Since 2026 May it has run TikTok creator videos along the lines of "there's a free app-building tool hidden in ChatGPT," with owned or contracted dedicated accounts, plus paid partnerships labeled Paid partnership.
  3. Every app users deploy lives on a *.v2.appdeploy.ai subdomain. The free tier carries a watermark, so every live app is sending traffic back to it.

1. What it is and when it launched

  • Product: the site says "Deploy your first app from ChatGPT or Claude… your AI calls AppDeploy and returns a live URL in a minute". Supports ChatGPT, Claude, Figma Make, Cursor, Codex, and other MCP clients (https://appdeploy.ai/). The MCP endpoint is api-v2.appdeploy.ai/mcp. There's also a skills repo for Claude Code / Codex, AppDeploy-AI/skills (only 3 stars, GitHub 2026-11-07).
  • Timeline:
    • The article "Software, On Demand" went up on 2026-02-14. From 2026-02-15 to 02-17 they published a run of SEO comparison posts against Vercel, Netlify, and Lovable (https://appdeploy.ai/blog).
    • The ChatGPT App ID is asdk_app_6956e6ff…. Converting its first 8 hex digits to a timestamp gives roughly 2026-01-01. This is an inference.
    • On Trustpilot, 2026-04-20 already has a review saying "Did it all straight out of chat gpt."
    • Facebook blogger Afrilume posted on 2026-05-31: "ChatGPT's app store just added AppDeploy, and it works with free accounts too".
    • It then got into Webex AppHub, mcpservers.org, mcp.so, Notion's agent connectors (posted by @appdeployai on X), and Figma Make connectors, and it's been promoted on X as usable inside Meta Muse. It's not on the list of the first 15 official Muse connectors published by 9-29, so it probably connects as a custom connector. Unverified.
  • Pricing:
    • Free: 100 points per day and 1,000 per month, roughly 7 deploys/day, watermarked, up to 5 registered users per app.
    • Plus: $20/month, or $17/month billed yearly ($200/year). Includes custom domains, watermark removal, optional automated QA, and top-up packs.
    • Payments via Polar (https://appdeploy.ai/pricing).
    • Trustpilot reviews also mention a Business tier, and support will upgrade people to it for free.

CrUX tiers

  • Worldwide: 2026-06 top 1M → 2026-09 top 500k.
  • Philippines: both 2026-07 and 2026-09 are in the top 100k.
  • 2026-09 countries newly entered the top 500k: AU, BR, ES, FR, GB, ID, KR, MX, NL, TH, TR, TW, VN. US moved from 2026-08 top 1M to top 500k.

A key caveat: in CrUX, several countries' best-ranked origin is a user-deployed app. In Australia it's the-sexuality-navigator-t2pmek.v2.appdeploy.ai, and in Taiwan it's yanjiuyuan-skin-check-dd9wcm.v2.appdeploy.ai. Many other countries rank api.appdeploy.ai / api-v2.appdeploy.ai. So appdeploy.ai's ranking combines three sources of traffic: the marketing site, MCP/API calls, and visitors to user apps. This mirrors vercel.app and lovable.app: the more apps users deploy, the higher the main domain ranks. The climb isn't all from people visiting the marketing site.

Where the traffic lands: there's no mobile app. All traffic is web, including the marketing site, the dashboard, and hosted user apps. The main acquisition channel isn't the website but the app directories in ChatGPT and Claude.

3. Growth tactics (with evidence)

3.1 TikTok creators and dedicated accounts (main channel, confirmed)

Searching TikHub for "appdeploy" / "appdeploy chatgpt" turned up 2026-11-07:

  • @sam.deploy: 25K followers, 84 videos. The link in the bio is appdeploy.ai/?ref=tiktok_sam, and the handle literally says deploy, so it's safe to call this an AppDeploy in-house or contracted creator account. Its breakout post is "ChatGPT + Appdeploy.ai makes this feel illegal 🤯" from 2026-05-23, with 14.3M views and 2,371 comments. After that it kept posting the same formula, 15+ videos from April through November. Starting in September it added a "Comment 'Deploy' to get it" line to capture leads in the comments.
  • @creators.hustle: 46k followers, self-described as doing Brand Deals. Its 2026-09-01 video has 2.77M views, and TikTok tags it "Paid partnership" (branded_content_type=1). This is a confirmed paid creator deal.
  • @hustle.faceless: 380k followers, an AI-tools reposting account. Its 2026-06-29 video "This ChatGPT app lets you build real apps for free" has 2.57M views. From September to October it posted 3 more "Comment 'APPDEPLOY' and I'll send you the link" videos, with 290k, 48k, and 32k views.
  • @shigcodes: a Philippines account with 78k followers. Its 2026-09-20 video has 760k views, and a 2026-10-07 video reached 19k. The timing matches PH's CrUX tier (top 2026-09 100k).
  • Others include @opensourceguy (Nigeria, 44k views), @futureshiftt (Pakistan, 47k), @delia_ai_tech (160k), @fadzieai, and @legitalgorithmswithpeter (a roundup of 5 free deployment tools, 200k).
  • The messaging is very uniform, hammering one hook: "there's a free plugin hidden in ChatGPT that builds real apps", plus "feels illegal" and "since when can ChatGPT do this". This targets a broad side-hustle and make-money audience, not developers.
  • This explains the country mix: markets with heavy TikTok side-hustle consumption, like the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Brazil, picked it up first. The timing fits too. It first entered Tranco in 2026-08-20, accelerated in September, and that lines up with the September creator wave (creators.hustle 9-01, shigcodes 9-20, hustle.faceless 9-28). Tranco uses a rolling 30-day average, so it lags.

3.2 platform directories / app-store-style distribution (confirmed)

  • The ChatGPT app directory listing is chatgpt.com/apps/appdeploy. The official install guide says simply "search for AppDeploy under Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar" (https://appdeploy.ai/chatgpt-installation-instructions). TikTok also has "How to Find App Deploy in ChatGPT" discovery videos, which shows people are searching for it inside the platform.
  • It's also on the Claude connectors, Webex AppHub, Notion agent connectors, and Figma Make connectors, plus AI-tool directories like mcpservers.org, mcp.so, mcpmarket, theresanaiforthat, and futurepedia.

3.3 Facebook groups / pages, YouTube, and Reddit (confirmed to exist, small volume)

  • Afrilume's Facebook post has 123 views. @freemediatools' YouTube tutorial has 1.1k views. The official channels include YouTube, Discord, and a Facebook page.
  • On Reddit, an official or promotional account replied under a hard-deployment thread in r/ClaudeAI with "You can try AppDeploy… claude mcp add …". r/mcp has a product post. In r/ChatGPT, users have shared *.v2.appdeploy.ai links on their own.

3.4 SEO content (confirmed)

  • There's an "AppDeploy vs Vercel / Netlify / Lovable" comparison page, a "chat-native deployment" concept page, install guides for each platform, and an llms.txt. They're going after long-tail queries like "deploy from ChatGPT" and "deploy app from Claude". In a search for "AppDeploy MCP ChatGPT deploy app", the official site ranked first.

3.5 in-product virality (inferred, strong evidence)

  • The free tier carries an AppDeploy watermark, and every app sits under *.v2.appdeploy.ai. Users share the links with students, clients, and friends, and some post them on TikTok (@stundenbuddy posted an appdeploy link). In CrUX, some countries' best origin is a user app, which means real visitors are arriving.

3.6 concierge-style retention (confirmed)

  • 14 Trustpilot reviews, averaging 4.4 stars. Several of them clustered in September of 2026. The recurring theme: once you run out of quota, contact support, and the team upgrades you to Business for free, removes the watermark, and resets your limits. Reviewers include a French vocational teacher, a Nigerian teacher running CBT exams, and first-time app builders. For non-technical users, hands-on support is the retention lever. The September cluster of positive reviews may have been prompted, which is unverified.

Not found / uncertain

  • Searching "appdeploy" in the local x-radar corpus returned 120 posts in 0 days. No major accounts on X have written about it.
  • No funding reports found. It isn't on the tracked ad libraries (Meta/Google/TikTok), so whether it has run paid ads is unknown.

5. Why it took off

  1. Timing and platform events: OpenAI launched the Apps SDK in October 2025, and opened app submissions and the directory in December. AppDeploy went live early in 2026, catching the early window of the ChatGPT app directory, when few options could deploy full-stack apps there. In ChatGPT, "plugins" are its app store entry point.
  2. Free accounts work, covering users ChatGPT Sites doesn't: Sites launched in July but is paid only. AppDeploy's creator videos keep stressing "free, works with free accounts," aimed at the many users in the Philippines, India, Indonesia and Nigeria who rely on free ChatGPT.
  3. TikTok creators and dedicated accounts mass-posting "ChatGPT hidden features": @sam.deploy hit 14.3M views in a single video (May). In September, paid partnerships followed (@creators.hustle, 2.77M), along with mid-tier accounts in multiple countries. The timing and country spread line up with its climb in Tranco and CrUX.
  4. Hosting builds traffic over time: user apps sit on v2.appdeploy.ai subdomains with a watermark, and every visitor to an app counts toward the main domain's ranking.
  5. High-touch support keeps small-team users: when non-technical users get stuck, support upgrades them for free and resets their quotas, earning Trustpilot reviews and long-term users.

6. Differentiation

  • Only the deployment "last mile" of AI tools, with no editor or AI of its own. Users write code with the ChatGPT or Claude they already use, so AppDeploy carries no model cost and can offer a free tier. Lovable, Bolt and Replit all have to pay for generation.
  • One integration, works with any AI: ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex, Figma Make, Notion, Webex.
  • Full stack out of the box: database, login, real-time sync, scheduled jobs, built-in AI, automated E2E QA and rollback. More suited to non-technical people than the Netlify or Vercel MCPs.
  • Is that differentiation the reason it took off? Partly. "Deploy right in chat + free" gave TikTok an easy hook ("hidden ChatGPT feature"), and it got them into the ChatGPT directory, which was the prerequisite for scale. But that differentiation is easy to copy: Hatchable has nearly the same shape and is climbing at the same time (Tranco 475k, CrUX in the same tier). Once OpenAI's own Sites starts charging in 2027 years and expands coverage, the room in its free tier will shrink. What really drove the volume was distribution execution: getting into the directory early, plus a dedicated TikTok account and a steady stream of paid creator posts.

7. Visibility and copycats

  • Visibility: circulating in small circles. Revenue isn't public, it isn't on TrustMRR, and no funding or press coverage turned up. Big accounts on X haven't written about it (x-radar: 120 days, 0 posts). But it's being pushed repeatedly in TikTok's "AI side-hustle tools" circles, with a single post peaking at 14.3M views, and it shows up in the ChatGPT and MCP directories.
  • Copycats and similar tools: Hatchable (Woobox) has almost the same shape and grew at the same time. "Vibe hosting" tools like VibeHost are emerging. Big players have ChatGPT Sites and Lovable/Replit in ChatGPT.

8. What others can borrow

  • Turn the product into an app or connector inside AI platforms (ChatGPT directory, Claude connectors, Notion, Figma, Meta Muse). The directory itself is the distribution channel. The first few months after a platform opens its directory are the window.
  • Borrow the LLM's generation capacity and charge only for hosting and infrastructure: generation costs sit on the user's own ChatGPT subscription, so free tiers can be offered to drive volume.
  • TikTok uses dedicated accounts (with ref tracking links) plus paid creators, all pushing the same hooks: "ChatGPT hidden feature / free / feels illegal". Keywords in comments collect leads, targeting side-hustle audiences in emerging markets.
  • Hosting on its own subdomains + a watermark on the free plan sends traffic and exposure from users' work back to the main domain.

9. Uncertain

  • Paid conversion and revenue are completely unknown. The free tier is generous and support often upgrades for free, so monetization may still be weak.
  • It's not clear whether @sam.deploy is an employee, a signed UGC creator or an affiliate. The only thing known is that the link carries ref=tiktok_sam.
  • Whether it runs paid ads (Meta, TikTok, Google) wasn't found. Ad libraries don't track it.
  • The Tranco ranking can't be split between the marketing site, the API and user apps.
  • The exact date it entered the ChatGPT directory, and how much traffic the Meta Muse and Notion integrations each brought, are unknown.
  • Whether the cluster of five-star Trustpilot reviews in September was solicited is unverified.
