Name Reading Ai (namaeuranai.biz) · namaeuranai.biz

# A Japanese name-reading site that calls itself "anti-superstition": rankings tripled, mostly from a measurement change. What's worth studying is how it makes money

**What it is** A free Japanese site for name readings and baby-name suggestions. You enter a name and it scores your fortune by stroke count. The operator is a YouTuber who makes content exposing fortune-telling scams.

**Why it got hot** It didn't suddenly take off. In September, Chrome's real-user tier moved from the global top 100k into the top 50k, and rankings were mechanically amplified. Several older Japanese naming sites were declining over the same period, so it may have picked up some search traffic. Its staying power comes from a domain that is 13 years old, hundreds of thousands of name pages, and the founder's channel.

**C** **How you could ride this** Don't build a name-reading product. Copy its revenue structure: a free tool that ranks first in search, small one-off report fees, and then terms that prohibit professional users from using it commercially for free, pushing them to buy a professional version or certifications.

C grade: this climb is mostly a measurement artifact. The domain age, massive page count, and the founder's 300k-subscriber channel are things followers can't copy, and the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean naming market is already saturated. What you can learn is its monetization funnel and programmatic SEO. Circulating in small circles

Global rank 54k · 90 days ago 181k

"Name Reading Ai" (namaeuranai.biz) is a free Japanese name-reading site. You enter a name and it scores your fortune by stroke count. The operator is the YouTuber "占い師けんけん" (Kenken the fortune teller), with 300k subscribers. Its global ranking went from 180k to 54k over 90 days, which looks like a sudden breakout. It has actually been around for 2013 years and has consistently ranked in Japan's top 5,000 on Chrome. Most of this climb is from a ranking-measurement tier change. What's worth studying for a product builder is a different question: how a free fortune-telling tool gets monetized, layer by layer, into a ¥296k certification course.

### A 223-view debunk

In Jun 2023 4, a Japanese creator called SHR Fusion Research published an article and video testing whether "Ai" name readings are accurate. He took 1,824 presidents of TSE Prime-listed companies as "successful people" and 49,396 certified-training pharmacists as "ordinary people", then calculated each one's "career fortune" (仕事運), a metric unique to Ai. The most common result in both groups was "Great Luck" (大吉), at 31% each, and the other tiers showed nearly identical proportions. He also changed the "shi" in Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani's name to the character for "death", and the result was still "Super Great Luck", since career fortune only reads the first character of the name.

As of today this video has only 223 views (YouTube, 11-07). On Yahoo Chiebukuro, people keep asking "Is Kenken's Ai accurate?" and "My Ai reading was a total disaster". One answer flatly said: "The stroke-counting method is wrong, so it's inaccurate."

Still, it's the top result in Japan for "name reading". Being challenged, debunked, and mocked has all driven search traffic to it.

### What it is

The homepage's first line is "日本で一番正確な姓名判断サイト" (Japan's most accurate name-reading site), signed by 彩聖健人, which is Kenken himself. What it does:

- Free name reading: scores by total strokes, personality strokes, and so on. It also has two self-invented metrics, "career fortune" and "family fortune".

- Baby naming: enter a family name and a desired character or reading, and it generates candidate names. Expectant parents are the core users.

- Diagnosis for shop names, product names, company names, and nicknames; character stroke lookup; popular-name rankings.

- Celebrity readings: his apprentice Tsuruma writes a daily "trending person" name reading, now up to No. 672 (official sitemap, 11-07).

- A data page for every given name and every family name. For example, the page for "陽翔" shows today's ranking, all readings, and common family names it pairs with. The homepage notice for "new names/family names added" stopped at 2024-04-03.

Its pitch differs from the rest of the field. Competitors talk about schools and five-element luck. It says it isn't superstition, but rather statistics over hundreds of thousands of real Japanese full names. That matches Kenken's YouTube persona: he appears in a mask and specializes in exposing spiritual sales tactics and fortune-telling scams.

### How the rankings tripled

Global rank (Tranco): Jul 30 175k, Oct 12 133k, Oct 19 80k, Nov 5 54k. Almost the whole climb is packed into Oct 12 to 20, a 8-day window.

Those 8 days coincide with Google's release of the Chrome real-user tiers for 9. Its global tier moved from the top 100k into the top 50k, and since Tranco rankings reference those tiers, the site jumped a long way. 100 other sites moved from the top 50k into the top 2,857k the same month, and their median ranking rose 1.8x. Ai rose 2.56x, only slightly more than its tier peers. Roughly speaking, about 70% of the increase is from the tier change (inferred). Inside Japan its tier has stayed put for months, at the top 5,000.

The remaining bit may be real. Over the same period, several leading Japanese naming sites were declining:

| Website | Aug 6 | Nov 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Name Reading Ai namaeuranai.biz | 181k people | **54k names** |
| Baby Naming Guide b-name.jp | 75k people | 120k people |
| Good Name Net enamae.net | 95k people | 127k people |
| Name Origin Net namae-yurai.net | 124k people | 122k people |
| Naming Pon pon-navi.net | 66k people | 91k people |

Global Tranco rank, same source as above. b-name.jp's Chrome bucket also slipped from "top 50k" back to "top 100k".

Other sites dropped while it climbed, which looks like search traffic got redistributed across a few of them. Google's September anti-spam update rolled out from Sep 24 to Oct 8, and the timing lines up, but there's no keyword ranking data, so causation is unverified. The October buckets come out mid-November, and that will show whether this holds.

### Where users come from

- **Search, the main engine.** Search "姓名判断 無料" (free name diagnosis) and it ranks #1; recommendation articles also say it ranks at the very top for "姓名判断" on Google. Hundreds of thousands of name pages, surname pages, and celebrity pages catch long-tail queries like "陽翔 姓名判断" or "[celebrity] 姓名判断". The domain has been around for 13 years, and this part is hard for others to catch up on.

- **The founder's own channel.** "占い師けんけんTV" has 305k subscribers, with 969k views over the last 30 days (per yutura and vidiq, 11-06). The site footer links X, Instagram, TikTok, and a dozen sister sites (face diagnosis, "shining name" diagnosis, "strongest name-picking"...).

- **TV.** The homepage carries screenshots of "月曜から夜更かし" introducing it, and "鉄腕DASH" featured Shigeru Kijima using it. Air years not verified.

- **Controversy.** Its readings are harsh. Some people get told they have a great misfortune, then go to Chiebukuro to ask about it or write debunking pieces, and those become its backlinks and talking points.

- **Paid acquisition.** I couldn't find it in the ad libraries (not finding it doesn't mean it isn't running ads). Going by how the site looks, it doesn't rely on paid acquisition.

### Where the money comes from

Free tools sit at the bottom, and the higher up you go, the higher the price:

| Layer | What you pay for | Pricing | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ads | AdSense, i-mobile, Geniee, Amazon, etc. | — | Homepage code |
| One-off report | Sister site "真・姓名判断", claiming to match against the real full names of about 200k people | ¥680 per item, ¥2,000 for 4 items (tax included) | namae-p.com/v/, ¥11-07; the page has a notice saying prices were raised |
| Professional edition | Enter a surname, get 50k+ candidate names | Not disclosed | An operator's note, ¥2024-06-30 |
| Certification course | Name experts certified by the "Japan Naming Association", beginner + intermediate levels | ¥296,000, each exam level charged separately at ¥22,000 | namae-p.com/v/lp/ |

The most striking part is how the third layer came about. In 2024 Jun 30, a newly joined staff member at a fortune-telling company posted an article on note titled "A request to move to the paid version of 'Name Judgment Ai (彩)'." Many naming consultants were giving clients names for free using "Ai", and when the names turned out badly, the complaints landed on "Ai". So from Jun 1, side-hustle and professional name appraisers were no longer allowed to use the free version to name people; they had to switch to the paid version.

Pick out the people who make the most money from the free tool, use a rule to force them to pay, train them into certified name experts, then issue a professional account so they can charge clients themselves. Users, channels, and revenue all land on them.

Revenue hasn't been disclosed, and neither has the number of students.

### Who it's competing with

Japan's niche is all old sites:

- **赤ちゃん命名ガイド (b-name.jp)** : a site from the 2000s, baby naming plus a 330k-entry name dictionary, traditional five-grid.

- **いい名前ねっと, 名前由来ネット, 名付けポン** : traditional five-grid plus name recommendations, pure tool + ads, or parenting media doing it on the side.

- **日本育児研究社** : claims "2M people's track record" and sells paid naming services.

- **App** : "Name Fortune Telling" (2017), "Authentic Name Analysis Fortune Telling2026" (2018). Japan store rating counts are 7,895 and 4,103 respectively.

- **ChatGPT** : ask it whether a name's stroke count is auspicious and it can answer, but it has no real name database and can't rank surname pairings.

"彩" differs from these not in the algorithm, but in having a real person, a persona, and a line that "it's not superstition".

### Three moves to copy

1. **Free tool → one-off report → professional edition → certification course.** ¥680 sold to ordinary users, tens of thousands of yen sold to people who want to make money from it. Any niche tool where someone uses it to serve others can be monetized this way.

2. **Use terms to force professional users to pay.** Not "professional features cost extra", but "you can't run a business on the free version". This only works if the rule is enforceable, which requires your tool to already be the de facto standard in the field.

3. **Programmatic SEO with one page per entity, plus daily content riding trending topics.** One page per name and per surname catches the long tail; one trending figure per day catches the news cycle.

### If it were you

**C can learn from this, but copying it isn't worth it.** Most of this "surge" is a statistics artifact. The site itself is a 13-year-old veteran, built on an old domain, hundreds of thousands of pages, and a founder's channel with 300k subscribers. Followers can't get any of that. The Japanese, Chinese (baby naming, name scoring), and Korean (작명) markets are already packed.

**Who it's for** : people already with an audience in a divination, naming, feng shui, or tarot scene (with a channel or followers) who want to turn that content into tools and revenue; or developers with a niche tool who have noticed people already using it to sell paid services to clients.

**Who it's not for** : anyone wanting to build a Japanese name-diagnosis site from scratch; pure coders with no content or persona (anyone can write the algorithm, the value here is that people trust who's talking); anyone hoping to ride this "ranking surge" as a trend.

**How to do it** : don't build name diagnosis. Take its revenue structure. Find a free tool scenario where people already earn money through it (naming, shop names, feng shui layout, astrology chart readings, and the like). Get the free version to #1 in search, price the one-off report at the cost of a cup of coffee. When professional users show up, write a "commercial use requires the paid edition" rule, then launch a certified training course that issues accounts on passing.

**How to get customers** : programmatic SEO as the base (one page per entity), plus a face-on-camera channel to back the results. Give harsh results and the arguments themselves become traffic.

**Deadline** : this isn't a window-type opportunity and has no deadline. If you want to test it, spend two or three months getting a free tool to the first page for some long-tail query before thinking about charging.

**What would show you're wrong** : ① In the October Chrome buckets published mid-November, it enters the top 1,000 in Japan, or the global bucket keeps rising. That would mean the growth is real, not just a statistics artifact. ② The Japan Naming Association publishes student numbers or revenue showing the certification course sells several hundred seats or more a year. That would mean the "tool + certification" layer is much bigger than it looks and worth copying seriously in other languages.

## namaeuranai.biz (姓名判断 彩) research report

Research date: 2026-11-07. Data card: Tranco 181,135 (90 days ago) → 54,395 (2026-11-05), CrUX global top 100k → top 50k (2026-09).

### One line

A Japanese free name fortune-telling site (calculates luck from name strokes / readings) called 「姓名判断 彩」, run by YouTuber 「占い師けんけん」 (Kento Ayasaki). It's not a new product: **it has been around since 2013** (earliest Wayback snapshot 2013-11-25), and it has long been a top-5,000 Chrome site in Japan. The recent «×3.3 climb» is **mostly a bucket-threshold artifact of how the stats are counted** : in September 2026 its CrUX global bucket just crossed from «top 100k» into «top 50k», and Tranco mechanically jumped with it. Real traffic did grow somewhat, and while similar competitors were declining over the same period, there was no breakout.

### 1. What it is and where the money comes from

- Homepage: free name fortune-telling, name-candidate search (enter a family name + the kanji or reading you want, sorted by total strokes, personality strokes, etc.), kanji lookup by strokes, diagnosis for shop / product / company names and nicknames, a popular-names ranking, and celebrity name diagnoses ("topical figures", written daily by 弟子鹤马; human/672.html has reached No. 672). Source: official homepage and sitemap.xml (fetched 2026-11-07).

- Programmatic long-tail pages: every given name and every family name has its own data page (/name_data/陽翔: today's ranking, all readings, popular family-name pairings). The homepage's "new names / surnames" announcements have been updated up to 2024-04-03.

- Monetization, in four layers:
    1. Ads: the pages include code for AdSense, i-mobile, Geniee, Amazon ads and DoubleClick (homepage HTML).
    2. One-time paid appraisals: sister site 「真・姓名判断」 namae-p.com/v/, 680 yen per item, 4 items together for 2,000 yen; another spot in the FAQ says 1,280 / 4,000 yen, and there is a notice that "prices were raised"; which price is actually charged now is unverified. It claims to cross-check against data on roughly 200k real full names.
    3. Mandatory paid version for commercial use: starting 2024-06-01, freelance name consultants and professional appraisers are barred from using 「彩」 for free to name clients and must switch to the paid version (the paid version lets you enter a family name and generates 50k+ candidate names). Source: the operator's note 「『姓名判断 彩』有料版移行のお願い」 (2024-06-30).
    4. Certification course: the 「日本命名士協会 認定アカデミー」 certified name-consultant course, beginner + intermediate bundle 296,000 yen, exams charged separately at 22,000 yen per level; after passing, students receive a 「プロ用の診断支援システム」 account and can charge clients for appraisals (namae-p.com/v/lp/). The recall card says the system has an additional monthly fee of 11k yen, but I could not verify this in the original text.

- App: applion.jp listed an Android version called biz.namaeuranai, but it is not in our googleplay library, and it cannot be found on the Japan iOS store. **Traffic is almost entirely on the web.**

### 2. What the climb actually was (key finding)

Tranco ranks in the traffic library: 7/30 175,370 → 9/24 162,719 → 10/12 132,765 → 10/19 79,974 → 11/05 54,395. Almost the whole climb is concentrated in **10-12 to 10-20, just 8 days** .

CrUX(traffic.crux_domain):

| Month | Global | Japan | US |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-05 ~ 08 | top 100k | top 5,000 | Not charted |
| 2026-09 | **top 50k** | top 5,000 | top 1M |

CrUX's September data is released around the second week of October, and CrUX is one of Tranco's five sources, so the timing lines up. To check, I looked at every domain in the same window that jumped from the 100k to the 50k CrUX global bucket from August to September (2,857 domains): their median Tranco rank rose from 171,742 to 96,245, a median multiple of **1.8×** . Domains that stayed in the same bucket had a median multiple of 1.0. 彩's multiple was 2.56×, somewhat higher than the median for the bucket-crossers.

**Conclusion** : roughly seventy percent of this «×3.3» is a mechanical jump from the CrUX bucket crossing; the rest may be real traffic growth, or other sources moving along with it. In Japan it has consistently ranked in the top 5,000 on Chrome, and its bucket didn't change. The real increase is marginal, not a breakout.

Tranco for similar competitors in the same window (traffic.rank_day):

| Domain | 08-06 | 10-08 | 11-05 | CrUX global August→September |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| namaeuranai.biz | 181,135 | 144,793 | **54,395** | 100k→50k |
| b-name.jp (赤ちゃん命名ガイド) | 75,284 | 72,010 | 120,146 | **50k→100k** |
| enamae.net (いい名前ねっと) | 94,866 | 83,268 | 126,688 | 500k→500k |
| namae-yurai.net (名前由来ネット) | 123,684 | 65,578 | 122,436 | 500k |
| pon-navi.net (名付けポン) | 65,527 | 59,219 | 90,916 | — |
| akachan.jp | 66,420 | 63,853 | 65,313 | — |
| nihon-ikuji.com | 806,404 | 839,018 | 807,385 | 500k |

The leading Japanese baby-naming and name-fortune sites all declined in the same period; only 彩 rose, which looks like search traffic being redistributed among them. Google's 2026 September spam update rolled out from 9-24 to 10-08 (Google Search Status Dashboard, Search Engine Journal), a timing match, but we have no keyword ranking data, so **causation is unverified** .

### 3. Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale (Tranco 2026-11-05 / CrUX Japan) | How it differs from 彩 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Baby Naming Guide b-name.jp | Web | Old site (since 2000) | 120,146 / Japan top 5,000 | Focuses on baby names and a 330k-entry name dictionary, traditional five-grid method; no influencer angle, no "anti-fortune-telling" positioning |
| いい名前ねっと enamae.net / iinamae.net | Web | Old site | 126,688 / Japan top 50k | Traditional five-grid plus name recommendations, pure tool + ads |
| Name Origin Net namae-yurai.net | Web | Old site | 122,436 / Japan top 50k | Claims "4M pregnant users"; name + stroke-count checks |
| Naming Pon pon-navi.net | Web | — | 90,916 | Five-grid assessment bundled with a parenting media brand; results can be shared |
| 日本育児研究社 nihon-ikuji.com | Web | Old site | 807,385 / Japan top 10k | "2M track record"; sells paid naming services |
| Nanyama Seirin seimeihandan.jp, Yoshimoto-shiki yoshimoto.cc, Ginza no Haha Seimei Handan | Web / App | Old site | Small | All are individual fortune-teller brands with phone-based paid consultations; 銀座の母 also has an app |
| The Name-Based Fortune Telling That Hits Hard (Media Kobo), Serious Name Analysis Fortune Telling 2026 (GiftCam) | iOS | 2017 / 2018 | Ratings count 7,895 / 4,103 | App format, monetized through divination content |
| General AI like ChatGPT | Big-company features | — | — | You can ask directly about a name's stroke-count fortune, but they lack its real-name database and family-name pairing rankings |

### 4. Where users came from (growth tactics)

1. **Organic search (the main driver, evidenced)** : on Jina, a search for 「姓名判断 無料」 puts it first; a naming-recommendation article (fuujingama.work) states that searching 「姓名判断」 on Google puts it at the very top. Hundreds of thousands of given-name pages, family-name pages and celebrity diagnosis pages capture long-tail search, such as 「陽翔 姓名判断」 or a celebrity's name plus 「姓名判断」.

2. **The founder's own media (evidenced)** : the YouTube channel 「占い師けんけんTV」 has 305k subscribers and 969k views in the last 30 days (yutura.net, vidiq, 2026-11-06). His persona is a debunker (「デバンカー」) who exposes inspirational-sales and fortune-telling scams; the official site footer links X, Instagram, TikTok and a dozen sister sites (顔チェック, キラキラネーム度診断, 最強命名…) into one network.

3. **TV (evidence found, early timing)** : the homepage shows a screenshot of it being featured on 「月曜から夜更かし」 and used by 城岛茂 on 「鉄腕DASH」. I haven't verified which year it aired.

4. **Third-party content (with evidence)** : A YouTube video compares the career luck of about 1,800 successful people and 49,000 ordinary people using "彩" (Aya), and search results show 1.4M views (publish date unverified). On Yahoo Chiebukuro there are several posts like "けんけんの彩って当たる?" and "ボロカスに鑑定された". The harsh readings themselves are driving the discussion.

5. **Ad buying** : it does not appear in our ad library (not finding it doesn't mean it isn't advertised), and from the shape of the site it doesn't look like paid-acquisition-driven growth.

### 5. Why it works (long term) and why it got recalled now

- The long-term staying power comes from **an old domain (since 2013) + a programmatic name database that drives long-tail SEO + the founder's 300k-subscriber YouTube and TV exposure** , which has kept it at the top of Japan's name-fortune niche (CrUX Japan top 5,000).

- The positioning is different: rivals talk about schools and lucky/unlucky stroke counts, while it calls itself "anti-occult" (反オカルト), using real-name statistics, and claims to be "the most correct in Japan." That matches the founder's scam-exposing YouTube persona, and its harsh verdicts make people want to share and argue.

- Why it was recalled now: **mainly the CrUX global bucket crossing from 100k to 50k in September, which Tranco amplified** . Competitors declined over the same period, so it may have taken some search share from rivals (the timing matches Google's September spam update, unverified).

### 6. Visibility

Known in Japan's fortune-telling scene: has appeared on TV, 300k YouTube subscribers, and gets discussed on Chiebukuro. Revenue isn't public. Our X corpus shows 0 posts searching "namaeuranai" over the past 90 days. Almost nobody in English or Chinese circles knows it. It's an established site, not a fresh opportunity.

### 7. Takeaways

- A funnel of "free tool → one-time paid report (680–2,000 yen) → selling certification and a pro version (296k yen)"; its terms **ban professionals from using it for free commercially** , pushing them to buy the pro version, a move any niche tool can copy.

- Programmatic SEO with one page per given name and per family name, plus a daily celebrity name diagnosis that rides on news spikes.

- The Chinese (baby naming, name scoring) and Korean (작명) markets are already crowded; the opening is only in a language where no "data-driven + influencer-backed" player has claimed the space yet.

### 8. Uncertain

- How much real traffic grew: Tranco and CrUX give only buckets and ranks; October's CrUX data won't be out until mid-November, and then we'll see whether the bucket jump persists.

- Whether competitors' declines and 彩's rise were caused by Google's September spam update is unverified, as we have no keyword data.

- The real revenue and student numbers for the paid appraisals and courses are not public.

- US CrUX entered the top 1M: could be Japanese people in the US, or the "English diagnosis" pages; unverified.
