Bookkeeping and expense-tracking apps in European local languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German, Polish), built by a solo dev, subscription. Relies on organic store traffic; almost nobody buys Meta ads.

Status
Open (rankings are steady, with several solo devs in several countries showing up at once; individual apps' ratings rise very slowly, so it's small money)
Why now, and how long the window lasts
AI coding lets one person build a decent expense app in a week or two. Local languages and local habits (France's Kakeibo, Germany's Haushaltsbuch) are things big players and English apps don't cover. Almost nobody buys Meta ads for this term, so ASO and organic traffic are enough. Supply is growing (at least 10 since 5–September), and the window is measured in quarters.
Confidence
Low to medium. Rankings checked, several solo devs appearing together; but revenue isn't visible and the charts are thin. Kill condition: by 11-15, more than half of these apps drop out of the local Finance Top 50; or Meta's expense tracker ad count doubles, with advertisers appearing who run ads for European local-language expense apps.
Evidence
Grouped by store. Each group starts with the charts that can be graphed (real curves, data dates below the chart), then the scanner's original notes and source links.

App Store (fr/es/it, 11-02): All four apps named in the report checked out, and the ranks match. Florine: Budget Planner (launched 6768168368,05-17) hit Top Grossing #22 in fr Finance, #24 in be, and #39,461 in it, with ratings in each. Rata y Fina (6787686922,07-13) hit Top Grossing #6 in es Finance with 234 ratings, and also charted in ch #22, nl #24, de #26, at #28 (same dev built the German, Dutch and French versions). Spendix (6786657486,07-14): #21 in it, with 157 ratings. Margen: patrimonio en vivo (6779967453,07-16, net-worth focused): #19 in es, with 122 ratings. All four are solo developers, each with only 1 apps in their account.
App Store (fr/es/it, 10-28 → 11-02): 6-day rank ranges: Florine 15–22, Rata y Fina 4–8, Spendix 16–43, Margen 14–37, all staying in the top 45; but ratings rose only +6, +12, +3, +1 over 5 days, inferred as steady small money, not rapid growth.
App Store (11 European stores, 11-02 checked, not named in the report): solo-dev expense apps launched within the last 6 months still sit in the top 30 of Finance Top Grossing: Kakeibo (fr #4, be #16,57, ratings), Pennli Haushaltsbuch (Piotr Mol, de #20, it #14, pl #15, at #23; one person, four languages), BEEZZ (pl #9,145, ratings), Skarbo (pl #17), Lingot: Gastos y Patrimonio (es #15), Mi€sencial (es #21). Dozens of ratings can reach the top 30, inferred that these stores' Finance charts are very thin.

Meta Ad Library · running 111 ads · earliest seen running from 2026-10-26
Number of ads running right now
Data 2026-11-01 → 2026-11-07 (7 days, 3 observations). Meta Ad Library tracking started 11-01; an advertiser is tracked about every 2–3 days.
Meta ad library (11-02): expense trackers run 548 ads across four countries (US 318, GB 124, DE 55, JP 51; 11-01 is 573), among the fewest of the 60 keywords; the only top-of-funnel expense app is Vionyx's Page "App 3" (58 likes) running 25 ads, landing on MoneyFlow / MoneyCove. None of the European local apps above has matched an advertiser.
Already doing it
The 10 European local solo apps above, plus France's Fleur; Vionyx's English generic MoneyFlow / MoneyCove just started buying ads; established players (YNAB, Spendee, etc.) are outside this check.
The hardest step
Retention and payment. Expense apps have many free alternatives, individual apps' ratings rise very slowly, and the money is small. Differentiation has to come from localization (local bank imports, local budgeting methods).
Who it's for
A 1-person indie dev whose native language is French, German, Italian, Spanish or Polish; subscription at €2–5/month; relies on ASO and organic traffic, no ad budget needed.
Should every product builder know this?
No. But the method "local store charts show independent new winners + nobody buys Meta ads = small teams can get in" is worth knowing.
Change log
2026-11-04
The "expense" cluster on the cutoff list has 4 entries, but all are ad-bought shells, not the European local-language solo apps this record describes: LuckyMoney (Apptualy, 55 days, GP 537k installs, same developer also makes the calorie app Lucky Food), Money Manager: Smart Saver (developer name AQUINO TOWING, a towing company name), Vionyx's MoneyFlow / MoneyCove (three Pages running 189 ads combined, Vionyx also running 506 ads for the short drama DramaBinge). On the kill condition "Meta expense tracker ad count doubles": the ads are for English shells on GP, not European local-language expense apps. This record's status is unchanged, and these shells are merged into [075].
