Native monetization / acquisition layers built on top of platforms (selling paid content via Telegram Stars, automated Reddit lead gen, plugins for Bubble / Canva / GHL / WordPress). Every platform with an app marketplace has a solo builder pulling $3–10k MRR
- Status
- Watching (Bazzly is rising, Telestars is flat; the plugin entries are listing counts that can't be checked day by day. This is a pattern, and we need more platform samples before it can be upgraded)
- Why this is written up
- Big platforms have hundreds of millions of users and their own payments or traffic, but they don't provide third parties with the layer for 'how to earn and acquire customers inside the platform.' Telegram Stars (in-platform virtual currency) and Reddit (communities that don't allow ads) are exactly where the money and traffic are, but official tools are missing. The plugin listings for Bubble, Canva, GHL, and WordPress show the same structure holds on every platform with an app marketplace, and these have lasted 28–133 months, which suits a solo developer for the long run.
- Confidence
- Medium (the pattern itself); the opportunity on any single platform is low. What would overturn this: Bazzly turning down in November while Telestars stays flat, or Telegram / Reddit issuing rules that ban third-party automation.

Meta Ad Library1 evidence items
- Meta ad library (11-02): searches for 'telegram stars' and 'reddit customers' found no matching advertisers; neither of these buys Meta ads.
Already doing it
Telestars (Telegram), Bazzly (Reddit); each platform in the plugin marketplaces has one or two established players (the four listings above). Related: [007] also still growing is the integration layer that connects agents to specific tools, which follows the same structure.
The hardest step
Platform rules. Telegram changing its Stars cut, Reddit banning automated accounts, or the host platform building the same feature itself could each wipe the business out overnight. Telestars' 'paid content' category also carries content-compliance risk (inference).
Who it's for
Indie devs who are already heavy users of a platform and know what it's missing; subscriptions or transaction cuts; prioritize platforms that have been around a long time, have official tools missing, and offer an app marketplace or open API.
Should every product builder know this?
Yes. 'Find a big platform and build the layer it doesn't' is one of the most reliable approaches for indie developers, and these samples span five platforms.
