Differentiation. 'Tone polishing' is a model capability; every vendor adds it with a prompt. iOS keyboard extensions carry high permission and UX engineering costs; voice input priced above $15/month has not yet been seen converting to meaningful subscriber counts.

A solo builder doing a native Mac app; one-time purchase or a subscription under $15/month; pick a narrow audience or narrow workflow and make local offline the selling point.

Two takeaways: the local speech recognition API in macOS 26 lowers the barrier for this kind of tool (a platform window); the monetization is 'free tool + funnel to API credits', not selling software.
